Oh yes, lots of people hate on Steph. Saying no one does is silly. Every star, not just Steph, needs help to win. Why single him out? It took Steph a few games to find himself. Big deal. He hasn't been a charter member of Team USA for 12+ years like LeBron and KD, who both learned and adapted to FIBA long ago. Harden was great, but too often he was his own worst enemy. Something is wrong between his ears. This isn't true of guys like Steph and LeBron. For the record, I'm still not over CP3 going lame against the Warriors. No fan felt that pain more. LOL, I basically sat out the following season pouting over it. Rockets had the best team in the NBA, showed dominance over the Warriors after they were down 2-1 and were up 39-18 in game 6 before collapsing.
yall looked like crap this entire summer the olympics placed yall in an easy group with teams like brazil, and south sudan
I don't agree that we collapsed. Refs just decided to swallow the whistle and dictate our style of play. Made us really one dimensional.
if we were crap in this tournament and still won while going unbeaten, imagine how good we'll look once the start playing better we da best.
nobody hates on steph, they give him a built in excuse for any and everything..and then the leftist voters that vote on end of szn awards will still select him for all-nba when he didnt deserve like this past szn for instance
The fact that you don't understand how the three point shot has changed basketball is crazy. This team USA team would run dream team off the court with the barrage of threes being poured in. Imagine if bron steph and KD were in their prime. This team would be untouchable.
its only gonna get worse from here i think because next olympics all of david sterns guys will be retired... the coddled nba stars of today like jalen green, ja morant, ant edwards only get by on athleticism, none of these young usa players have skill that can translate to success out of the confines of the rigged nba
the 3 point line didnt change anything those argentina ( scola, manu) and spain teams( gasol bros) were way more talented than any of these teams usa played this summer
Guys, enjoy this gold medal ceremony. It think it's likely 2028 will be even more difficult for Team USA Basketball.
They've all been difficult for years now. The rest of the world is too good to coast like OG Dream Teams could. Still the depth of greatness team USA has usually prevails. LeBron wasn't even on the 16 and 20 teams, neither was Curry.
Through the first 3 quarters Serbia shot like 15-25 from three which is why they took a big lead. How do you not understand this? Sourh Sudan also hit like 15 threes. Which makes the game close. How is this so hard to understand. Just threes alone is 45 points and opens up the court for everything else. When teams get hot, it's hard to beat. Look at the games we blew them out and the 3 point percentages. There is a huge correlation.
IMO, this was an exceptionally talented and seasoned USA men's team, and they barely won gold. Next time, I expect European teams will be better (esp France and Germany) while there is a chance Team USA will not be as good.
People have been playing the how much better the world is card since we lost in 04. The 08 team had multiple inner circle all time greats and barely won. 2016 and 2020 were far worse on paper, and still won. Team USA will always have a massive talent depth advantage. It's single elimination so theres always a chance we can lose, but we will be the favorite just like every other year.
