It was close cuz France got the benefit of the doubt from refs since this Olympics was in Paris, The free discrepancy was like 17-5 when it mattered, France was playing physical and it was allowed. But not so much when US tried.
In all fairness, the Americans jacked up more 3s so less fouls drawn... granted, I would jack up even more 3s with Steph on the roster
This type of thought just demonstrates how underrated team chemistry really is. You are correct, USA has an insane pool of talent to choose from, but reality is that the US team has always had a revolving door and there is never consistency. The world has improved by leaps and bounds and those teams usually have teams playing together for years and they are able to develop chemistry. Ultimately, talent will overcome chemistry issues, but the teams we play against are a lot better now a days and it is no walk in the park, even though from a talent perspective it seems like it should be. I understand the lack of excitement from individuals that don't appreciate chemistry.
Once he adapted, Steph destroyed FIBA just like he destroys the NBA. He's won 4 NBA championships, and now, a gold medal. Just appreciate the greatness of an all-timer.
