In his defense (and everyone else who’s pro jalen), I don’t think they believe that he HAS been a good player so far. I think everyone recognizes he has been bad. However, you can’t deny that he is extremely talented and IF he works out, he’s exactly what we need.

I dunno why you don't think Tari could be a star. I think he could score a lot more and be a Kawhi Leonard type player with more opportunity. He has shown he can score in ISO, we just never let him do it.

They kind of go back and forth on that.

They'll claim he's been amazing, then that is proven to be false, then there's excuses for why it doesn't matter "he's only 18", "3rd year leap coming", "all players suck their first 3 seasons", gotta wait till he's 47 to judge him".... then they go back to claiming he's been amazing and the cycle continues.

A contingent within the pro-Jalen crowd defends every post made against regarding the past. Doesn't sound like they accept his bad play from the past to me.

He does have potential. But unless its realized, it doesn't mean a thing.

Noticed in the video Sengun working on a hesi 3 pointer. So maybe guys will get their wish and he's been practicing 3 point baits/3 pointers this offseason.

Ime has to chomping at the bit to have Tari and Amen on the court at the same time. It's why I don't see Amen playing at the 3 for a majority of his minutes. After this season I expect both Tari and Amen to be starters. Along with Alpi and Bari. Then it's between Jalen and Reed for the final slot. I don't really have a horse in that race. Hopefully Jalen shows out this year but if not the Rockets future is extremely bright. Sengun developing a 3 point shot will vault this team to a top 4 seed. Jalen becoming consistent on both ends ends could put us right behind OKC. Amen developing a shot ...........Ring. And if Reed becomes "Cocaine Curry" then there's no cap on this teams future potential. OKC, Memphis and Dallas will be our biggest long term obstacles in the West. Then Minnesota and and NO. Just hoping that OKC won't be our new GS.

Alpi is already a top 3 center in the NBA imo and he will only get better. Much better. Then it's just a matter of how quickly everyone develops. Can't wait for this season to start.

You think he's top 3 NOW? Obviously jokic and embiid are untouchable so that only leaves 1 spot. Davis? Bam? Wemby? Chet? He's certainly hasn't come close to Davis yet, that's silly. He was just 12th in emp for centers last season.

I don't view Davis Wemby or Chet as 5's. And I think he surpasses Bam this year. I'm talking pure 5's. It's only Jokic and Embiid.

What is your threshold? Davis played center 97% last season and 100% year before, chet was at 100%. Wemby was classified as 100% also but they were tanking and playing a 2nd center to start the year.

By pure 5's I mean that the C spot is there only position. Where do you think Chet will play this year? Do you think Hartenstein will start? If so where will Chet likely play moving forward?

Personally I think that the Lakers were much better playing Davis at the 4 next to McGee and Howard during the bubble season. He can roam more defensively at the 4. He doesn't have to exert as much energy bagging down low when he plays the 4. It's just his natural position. Regardless of how he was used last year. I'm not using stats. Just what I've observed over his career. His teams are better when he plays next to a productive 5 (defensively).

I believe that SA will ultimately get a starting 5 to pair with Wemby. I believe that he stated that he wasn't a center pre-draft. And I agree. Again he can roam more defensively at the 4. And just like Davis and Chet I believe that his future and his best position will be at the 4 playing along side a true 5.
I mean if we had landed Wemby, what position would he have played here?

So that would leave Bam as the only pure 5 per your list of names. Bam is a tremendous talent. But for my preference moving forward I choose Alpi. And I'm a defensive minded fan lol. But I think Alpi is going to be special.

Now throw some stats at me to prove me wrong lol.

Haha you have your opinions, if a guy playing 100% of his minutes at center doesn’t convince you he’s a center, nothing else will. Wemby is a pure 5, davis is a pure 5, chet is a pure 5 who can somewhat play the 4 also. When the rockets had sampson and Hakeem, they were just starting 2 centers. The wolves currently start 2 centers, as an example.

    Definitely a difference of opinion.

Hartenstein is a pure 5 by my standards. Chet will be better letting Hartenstein do the heavy lifting down low. Chet might be the second best weak side shot blocker in the game. Playing at the 4 plays more to his strengths defensively. Obviously OKC knew this. Which is why they signed an actual 5 to pair with him in the front court.

I guess I never considered Davis as "pure" 5 either. If the spurs don't add a starting 5 long term then I guess you would be correct about Wemby. We will see how that plays out. Your speaking about hybrids imo. I'm speaking about classic 5's who only play 1 position. We just see the game differently.

But if a guy plays center in 100% of his minutes, isn’t that the definition of a pure 5? Wemby is absolutely not a 4, regardless who plays next to him. Even if they put another big, it’s just starting two 5s. Chet i agree can be a 4 cause he shoots well, but davis is as pure a 5 as you can get. Years ago he could play the 4 but he can’t shoot anymore so those days are long gone.

Wemby is a 3. France listed him as a 4 but he essentially operates as a wing.

What makes someone a pure center? Do you count bam? He played a bunch of 4 at one point. If alpi and adams play together at all, is alpi out also?

What? Your position is mainly what you play on defense. Wemby is a 5 who can, but shouldn’t, play the 4

Or the idiots like you who said his initial 5 game hot streak was a fluke only for him to ball out the whole 2nd half of the season. Now you've moved the goal posts again
