It's been way worse, so much worse that we're somehow giving up less runs per game this season. Oh wait, that actually means it hasn't been any worse, it's been basically the same. Almost like the Maldonado effect has been greatly exaggerated.
With half the staff injured and having to use guys like Bloss and Arrighetti that we never expected to see in our rotation this season.
Tayler Scott has become a great "fireman" out of the pen. Somebody you can bring in high leverage and get you out of a mess. We've been missing a guy like this since the Will Harris days.
Didn't Pressly have a full run better in ERA with Yainer behind the plate for the bulk of last year before the Maldy cult took hold of Jan?
The bullpen is going to he what the bullpen is. The results of 90% of all relief pitchers will vary greatly from one year to the next. All you can do is put the best of the bunch in leverage then fill out the bullpen with the ones that are least likely to fall apart, have the highest floor, and keep several with options on the 40 man so you can keep them fresh.
Singleton had 2 hits and a crucial rbi yesterday. Nice to see he was rewarded with the ol’ pine ride against a RHP today.
No Dubon at OF, at least there's that -- plus Chas is playing. It's a pretty good lineup though for what's available. .
Indeed he did... but they do already know what they have in him. If Decenzo gets in a rhythm (both at the plate, and with fielding), he's going to add more value over the course of the rest of the season. Singleton is also able to PH better than anybody else on the bench today (since Caratini starting).
Singleton sucks. Let's see what we have in Dezenzo. We can aways circle back to mediocrity. The fact that Caratini and Yainer are two of our 4 best hitters means we don't room for Singleton in the lineup.
