Its the worst platform. Maybe all platforms are **** but fans are fickle. Its part of being a MLB player or pro athelete in general, dumbasses going to dumbass. I personally don't trash our guys but to each his own.
Load management Needs: - 6-man rotation - <90 PC/game - skipped starts Astros better find a way to reduce his IP or he might end up like Javier next season -- and that's *if* he makes it through 2024. Looking at you JV... I have zero hope Garcia contributions anything this season. .
Every player has his ups and downs. Fans are fickle. When players are on hot streaks, they are our heroes. When they slump, they are bums. Sad, but true. Fans love winners. When you make millions for playing a kids game, fan expectations are not only high, but often unrealistic. Nothing personal. Fans being fans.
You can't do 6 man rotation AND <90 pitches per game. A 6 man rotation means a 7 man bullpen instead of 8. If you burn out your relievers or have to pitch your scrub 5 and 6 inning guys more often, what's the point.
Astros have been blessed with multiple guys who can throw multi-innings from the pen. They need to utilize it. Also, a more rested starter will likely be more effective during his starts (i.e. he might can pitch 6 innings instead of 5). It makes sense had Blanco threw 10 fewer pitches each of his last 2 starts, he would've been more effective today. Does it not? However you wanna put it, the Astros' current strategy will probably lead to disaster. Blanco is already deteriorating -- Brown and Arrighetti could be next. You can "trust" the coaches as much as you want (they do know more than us), but the way Javier was handled last season leads me to be not so trustful. Blanco could've spotted a start or 2. If the team losses the game, at least Javier got rest. We lost games he started anyway.
The 2022 pen was Pressly Montero Stanek Neris Abreu Maton Will Smith Seth Martinez You're totally cool with running that back this year, right?
It's a small sample space but have we possibly tapped into the high ceiling of Kaleb Ort? Before this season with Boston, 51 2/3 IP, 25 BB 7 2/3 IP and no walks. And 12 Ks. Very impressive.
well our pitching has been way worse this year esp the bullpen so the Maldonado affect is still real.
