I like all candidates and people serving in office to answer questions from the press. That's part of a healthy and free democracy. That applies to Harris as well. Conversely, I can understand why she wouldn't answer questions and also why Trump wouldn't answer questions from a campaigning standpoint. Harris' reasons might include - She hasn't been the nominee for very long and while most candidates can vet and look at VP candidates for months or even up to year, Harris had only a couple of weeks to get all of that work done. She is on a shortened time table overall and her availability for that might be limited. She might be reticent because whatever she says will be manipulated, and at least attempted to use against her. Though, it seems the opposition is getting less good at that kind of thing. Trump's reasons might include - He will say something racist. He will say something easily disproven. He will say something contrary to what he did in office, or what he's already said this election cycle. He will come off as unlikable, senile, and/or grumpy. He'll have to answer for things he's already said and done. Any and all of those things would be used against him by his opposition. So I'll give him props for at least being there to answer questions.
eh, did not come to lurk in thread for DJT content, LOL. Supposed be Walz (even if that's the orchestrated FOX/GOP take down, which I got to enjoy while visiting fam in TX).
ABC says both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris have agreed to a Sept. 10 presidential debate, setting up a face-off between the Republican and Democratic nominees. The announcement Thursday came shortly after Trump told a news conference that he had proposed three presidential debates with three television networks, saying he agreed on certain dates in September.
All these rambling bizarre clips just add confirmation to the excerpt from the article I posted earlier.... Even as Trump speaks with more derailments, Pennebaker found that he’s relied on unusually simple words and sentence structures since before he was elected president. A linguistic metric of analytic thinking shows that Trump’s levels of complexity have always been unmistakably low, said Pennebaker. Whereas most presidential candidates are in the 60 to 70 range, Trump’s speeches range from 10 to 24. “I can’t tell you how staggering this is,” said Pennebaker. “He does not think in a complex way at all.”
Kamala: "yes I want this job as president that requires me to talk with foreign leaders and preside over this diverse nation" Also Kamala: "nah I refuse to speak with even friendly reporters at a press conference, especially one thats nearly 90 minutes long" To me she is being hidden at the moment and only allowed to do a rally, or scripted TV skits. The more Trump shows up at these things, the more I want her to speak and show up. That's what normally happens. The first time we saw her off-script was last night with the pro-palestine protesters and that wasn't a good look IMO.
Claim: Tim Walz mandated tampons in all boys' restrooms. Fact: False. Tim Walz signed a bipartisan law that requires schools to supply free menstrual products for "all menstruating students" in grades 4 through 12. The law does not specify that these products must be placed in boys' restrooms. The decision on placement is left to individual schools. Minnesota is one of 28 states providing menstrual products in schools, including Republican-led states like Georgia, Ohio, and Utah. Claim: Tim Walz abandoned his enlistment early from the Army National Guard. Fact: False. Tim Walz honorably retired from the Army National Guard after 24 years of dedicated service to run for the House of Representatives and continue teaching. He is the highest-ranking enlisted man to have served in Congress. National Guardsmen are eligible for retirement after 20 years, but Walz served an additional four years. A battalion mate of Walz’s said, "He was a great soldier. When he chose to leave, he had every right to leave." Claim: Tim Walz allowed rioters to burn down Minneapolis. Fact: False. Following the riots, then-President Trump praised Walz's handling of the situation. Trump said, “I fully agree with the way he handled it the last couple of days. I was very happy with the last couple of days, Tim… You called up big numbers and the big numbers knocked them out so fast it was like bowling pins."
He retired before his unit was ever called up. He put in his paperwork months before his unit was called up. Keep grasping.
Word Salad when you can't say what you are going to really do and you don't want to piss off people.....................some would call that a NON ANSWER LOL.................those answers wont cut it in a debate
I eagerly await the press conference in 2 weeks where Trump said he’ll reveal how he’d vote on Florida’s abortion amendment…maybe he’ll finally reveal the healthcare plan he promised back in 2017 as well
Honestly, I don't give a damn what he says his plans are anymore. He's nothing but a pathological liar. Why even listen to that guy when he can't speak for 3 minutes without uttering a lie? It's torture listening to him moan and groan and spew all his doom and gloom in between rambling off topic with bizarre and nonsensical stuff, getting all tongue twisted trying to pronounce big words, making up words, and spewing his new nicknames like the manchild he is. The dude has lost the plot.
Every time Trump opens his mouth he is an incoherent disaster - why would Harris bother doing a press conference, which appeals to nobody other than the Washington press corps? There is no upside there. Meanwhile Trump called the presser because he has only one campaign event this week and can't be bothered to leave Florida. Low. Energy. She has lots of avenues for delivering her message. Nobody except for reporters and terminally online MAGA dopes care about who does what presser in the year 2024.
That rhetoric he cites to the maga base at a rally is one thing, but in the news conference today he sounded incoherent at times, that BS doesn't play the same way as his rally's. If he pulls that in the debates, it will have bigger effects. The man hasn't met a lie he couldn't top........I for one can't wait for the debate.
It appeals to the American people who want to hear the candidate speak and answer questions they might have that reporters will ask versus fluff emotional speech at a rally. Also It is pretty standard for a presidential candidate to have press conferences, and Kamala is going on 3 weeks during the thick of the race in avoiding that even from friendly reporters. I know one thing, if Trump was avoiding the press, the left would be calling him out on it. But since it is kamala, there's excuses on excuses.
