Wait - be precise. I didn't say they should never be elected officials. I said that I personally would be concerned that other politicians with that profile turned out to be people who don't understand private economy, who believe in big government and who turn out to be authoritarian. This is based on precedent I have seen in Europe. What I did not say is that not having worked outside of government and not owning stocks should categorically disqualify you from holding public office.
Again - I didn't say it makes him unelectable. What I did say is that an entire ticket with zero experience of having worked outside of being paid by taxpayer money is a cause for concern.
his VP wrote the foreword for it, over 100 members of his cabinet designed it, and there’s this in April 2022, Trump shared a 45-minute private flight with Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts, according to people familiar with the trip, plane-tracking data and a photograph from on board the plane, which has not been previously reported. They flew together to a Heritage conference where Trump delivered a keynote address that gestured to Heritage’s forthcoming policy proposals. Trump took the flight to speak at a Heritage Foundation conference, where he said, “They’re going to lay the groundwork and detail plans for exactly what our movement will do.” “Trump has continuously distanced himself from that”…stop, we’re not dumb…u can’t possibly think anyone is buying he knows nothing about it and wants nothing to do with it he’s distancing himself because even he’s not dumb enough to publicly embrace that radioactive policy platform atp because if he did it would officially kill his campaign…doesn’t mean that’s not his plan and what his yes-men plan to implement Joe Biden hardly ever brought up Project 2025, so Trump had no problems then…Kamala is different and is making sure people know about it, and now Trump is trying to run away from his own platform
Maybe but you'd have to be living in a FoxNews fantasy bubble to actually believe those are her stances- -She will not run on defunding the police. That's nonsense. She will probably run on giving more funds to policing, training, and support/management support -She'll run on higher taxes for billionaires which is very popular. She will not run on taxing the middle class. Big difference in the FoxNews talking point that is straight up disinformation. -She'll likely be running on the Senator Lankford Bill which she already has been doing which is only going to hurt her with the far left. -Holding Netanyahu accountable, and conditioning aid on not committing war crimes is going to be reasonable with the vast majority of voters. Keep in mind that Netanyahu has like a 34% approval rating. Hugging Netanyahu, and his war is like John McCain in 2008 hugging George W. Voters can understand that you support Israel being able to protect themselves, and conditioning your military aid to not be complicit in war crimes. Kamala Harris is going to be pro Israel. If you watch FoxNews and believe the talking points you uttered out then you were never a gettable voter to begin with if you are that susceptible to right wing propaganda/disinformation.
How about reading his Agenda 47 then. It is on his site. It is pretty much in lockstep with Project 2025. He distanced himself from the official "Project 2025" just not the policies it advocates for.
You don't run government like a business. The government's job is to protect society, and it's people and its sovereignty. It is NOT meant to turn a profit, or to even be debt free. It is the single most misunderstood topic that someone thinks because they ran a business they can run government - those are two completely different animals.....and running one doesn't make you qualified to do the other. Public servants are everywhere. Police, Fire Department, School teachers, government, Military - anyone that is paid by tax dollars is a social worker in fact. Everyone in this country has a right to run for public office - what you did beforehand is probably not going to prepare you for being successful - and arguably those in public service have a better chance because they have navigated those internal politics more than a maverick businessman who only worried about one thing. So, Walz is very qualified.....ATW and myself are not. DD
I'd rather have a public servant than a CEO who spends 3/4 of his life posting Xeets on a Rocket's message board. That's just me though.
In the US, the public prefers officials with no financial ties to corporations, even though they understand that's never the case (until now, apparently). It's remarkable that someone like Walz, who has no stock holdings or investments, is actually in government. Who knew he is so disconnected from Wall Street? This is a significant plus for the Harris campaign. It resonates with both hardworking individuals who aren't part of Wall Street and those who believe our elected officials have too many connections and financial conflicts of interest.
Trump lied in his disavowment. He said both that he knew nothing of it and also said it was too extreme. Both can't be true. So after knowing that he feels the need to lie about it, it is wise to look further. Looking further we see that more than 140 former members of Trump's past administration are part of it. Speaking to the Heritage Foundation, Trump said "They're going to lay the groundwork and detail plans for exactly what our movement will do." The author of the project said that he personally briefed Trump on the project. The evidence is there. Trump's track record of dealing with the facts is also there. You are free to take Trump at his word about Project 2025, but which word of his are you going to take? Also, given the dishonesty, connections, and own words, it is certainly fair to saddle him with the Project 2025. You can start here https://www.forbes.com/sites/alison...-to-project-2025-even-as-he-tries-to-deny-it/
Do you feel like the UK government is doing that job well? Walz is a more leftist version of Starmer. Be careful what you wish for.
He distanced himself by...... picking as his VP the guy who literally wrote the Foreword in the companion book for Project 2025. Only someone who is acting as an activist for Donald Trump would actually claim that Donald Trump has "distanced" himself from Project 2025. Yes he has muttered words to try and distance himself in the media, but in reality, he's doubled down on his support for the agenda.
I don't fully disagree with you - I prefer having no conflicts of interest to being a blatant insider trader like Pelosi. But never having had a job outside of being subsidized by taxpayer money also means you have a limited perspective from your own lived experience.
the party that claims to be pro-military is also the same party that attacked john kerry, a vietnam combat veteran while the guy he ran against was in the air national guard in texas. trump said POWs are not war heroes because they were captured. trump publicly insulted a gold star mother. and now look at all the right-wingers in here attacking walzs military service. its pathetic, but predictable.
One thing I can say about Walz is, he has not been bought by lobbyists or made an exorbitant amount of money from speaking engagements. Financial disclosures show Tim Walz barely has any assets to his name. No stocks, bonds or even property to call his own. Together with his wife, Gwen, his net worth is $330,000, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal citing financial disclosures from 2019, the year after he became Minnesota governor. I like the guy, but abandoning his platoon before a deployment hits me as a vet, as a problem. Kamala's net worth on the other hand is 6.7 million. Thats a pretty big number for being a public servant all of her life. Kamala Harris / Net worth 6.75 million USD As of 2021. That was 3 years ago though could be less or more.
Man served 24 years and didn't want to extend his enlistment. U are acting like he just abruptly quit and broke his contract. 24 years is 20 more years than most vets and 24 more years than folks claiming to b a patriot while never serving. He served our country, he has the right to retire when he wants to. 24 years is a lot for a vet.
