It was still an overpay but people were acting like he was chopped liver or something bc of his ERA. However, it also appears that the Astros did in fact have a plan in place with Kikuchi given his modified pitch usage since joining the team. Give credit to their professional scouts and development team.
Indeed. Maybe we just need to use the rule of if everybody is overwhelmingly pissed about a move... maybe it isn't as bad as we thought it was. Same thing the opposite way. Abreu signing was pretty much universally lauded at the time. Even if some were concerned about the 3rd year, they weren't immediately concerned about the first (or second) year.
I can't believe Ryan Pressly is going to be an Astro again next year. This ship really needs to have sailed.
Abreu has earned the setup role by now. Is there some agreement that Pressly must pitch the 8th inning? It's been time we swapped him out of that role. But I digress. We got 1 more season to deal with this BS.
