I don't get why ya'll keep acting stupid on this, Trump agreed to debate Biden not Kamala.... Its not difficult to get this, he agree to debate someone who dropped out of the race and will no longer make the debate. You don't swap out boxers on a scheduled fight, you don't swap out teams on a scheduled game and you don't swap out presidential candidates in a debate. There is no reason for Trump showing up on a previous agreed debate with someone else, he shouldn't show up..... Its about principal, its about respect. The first debate was on a leftist network with leftists moderators and all the rules specifically chosen by Joe Biden. Trump still went through with it, Kamala is a coward if she refuses Fox news on Trump's terms. Debates can only be had by leftist networks and Democrat nominee's terms? WTF is this? Venezuela? Ya'll need to get serious and stop with the bs...
I don't know why you don't get it. If you were scheduled to play Golden State and Curry turns out to be injured, you don't get to change the game because the Warriors have a sub in at that position.
Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has narrowed her search for a vice presidential running mate to two finalists, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, three sources with knowledge of the matter said on Monday. Harris, the U.S. vice president, is expected to announce her selection by Tuesday, ahead of her first scheduled public appearance with her running mate that evening at Temple University in Philadelphia. It was unclear if a final decision has been made, the sources said. The rally will kick off a five-day, seven-city tour of the battleground states likely to decide the Nov. 5 election. The choice of a running mate is one of the most consequential decisions of Harris' political career, as she hastily pulls together a campaign to challenge Republican nominee Donald Trump and U.S. Senator JD Vance, his vice presidential pick, in the Nov. 5 election. Vance will also make a campaign stop in South Philadelphia on Tuesday. Shapiro, 51, is a rising star of the party with strong approval ratings in Pennsylvania, whose 19 electoral votes makes it a must-win state for both Harris and Trump. Walz, 60, is a U.S. Army National Guard veteran and a former teacher who has raised his profile in recent weeks as an effective advocate for Harris. He has attacked Trump and Vance as "weird," a viral insult the Harris campaign has embraced. A former member of Congress from a Republican-leaning district, Walz has proven appeal to rural, white voters, though he has also championed progressive policies as governor, such as free school meals and expanded paid worker leave. While Minnesota is a solidly Democratic state, it borders Wisconsin and Michigan, two crucial battlegrounds. The candidates will be informed on Monday night or Tuesday morning whether they were picked, sources told Reuters. The Harris campaign plans a social media announcement featuring the duo, campaign officials familiar with the arrangements said.
Nah - there was already a debate scheduled and agreed upon. If Harris is as bad as Trump claims, he should have no problem facing her at the scheduled place and time. So - no, she won't look like a coward. I don't know that either of them would look like a coward, but if it would be anyone - it would be Trump.
Wut? Why does Harris replacing Biden have any bearing on needing to change the original arranged debate?
This isn't a good analogy. The boxing one, or another sport that is one on one works because you are going in designing your attack around that opponent. And Trump did already do a debate that heavily favored Biden going in. But I do feel there's enough time and that Trump should debate her but only if they schedule an additonal debate on a conservative leaning network as well. Come on don't be like that. Hardly anyone in here is partial, so why call folks out? For example, I haven't seen you post anything negative about the Democrats.
Trump's position is that the debate terms were negotiated with Biden and therefore apply only to him. When the Democratic party nominee changed, the previous agreement became void. Ideally, there should be a general debate format that the parties are willing to accept regardless of the nominees that are facing each other. But that's not how the system works.
Take a breather. Trump had agreed to debate on ABC. It wasn't a problem before. So whether the network is right, left, middle, whatever you want to call it, it had no relevance to Trump prior to this issue. The fact is that the democratic nominee changed and Trump wants to approach it differently since he knows Kamala will wipe the floor with him. Lets call it what it is. He wants a bit of a safe haven to prevent him from being outright embarrassed which I honestly don't blame him. If you are confident in yourself, then it doesn't matter where it happens. I know Trump wants to bully his way into Fox network, so I guess we will see what Kamala ultimately decides. Give into the bully or bully Trump? I hope she bullies Trump and doesn't give in to his demands.
deplorable MAGAts doing what they do best A Virginia man has been charged with posting repeated death threats against Vice President Kamala Harris on social media, the authorities said on Monday. The man, Frank Lucio Carillo, of Winchester, Va., was arrested on Friday and appeared in U.S. District Court in Roanoke, Va., on Monday to face a charge of making threats against the vice president of the United States. The felony charge carries a maximum sentence of up to five years in prison. The arrest came after the F.B.I. discovered nearly 20 threats against Ms. Harris from an account linked to Mr. Carillo on the social media site GETTR, according to filings in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia. The threats included promises to kill Ms. Harris and her family, to pluck out her eyes with pliers and to burn her alive. “Kamala Harris needs to be put on fire alive I will do it personally if no one else does it I want her to suffer a slow agonizing death,” Mr. Carillo said in one post on July 27. In an affidavit supporting Mr. Carillo’s arrest, the F.B.I. cited “4,359 posts/replies made by ‘joemadarats1’ targeting various public officials” over the past year, including Vice President Harris, President Biden, Christopher A. Wray, the F.B.I. director, and Stephen Richer, the Maricopa County, Ariz., recorder who became known for rejecting claims that the 2020 presidential election had been stolen from former President Donald J. Trump. The threats against the vice president were made days after Ms. Harris replaced Mr. Biden to become the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, according to court records.
too bad these are the terms coward Trump agreed to for the 2 debates back in May CNN and ABC News laid out five criteria for qualifying for their debates. The candidates must: Be constitutionally eligible to serve as president File a statement of candidacy with the Federal Election Commission Have their name appear on enough state ballots to reach the threshold of 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency Agree to the debate's rules and format Receive at least 15% in four separate national polls of registered or likely voters that meet CNN or ABC News standards. nowhere does it say it can only be Biden matter of fact, RFK Jr, Jill Stein, etc could be a part of these debates if they were able to satisfy the requirements of being on enough state ballots and polling above 15% Kamala fulfills all the requirements he agreed to…he’s just too p***y to debate her unless he can pick the host, venue, moderators, have no fact checking, and have a crowd full of MAGAts
There's a difference between not posting anything negative and simply refusing to believe facts, and echoing flat out lies or sharing posts hate group member types make.
This is what I don't get. Why does it have to be leaning at all? Why aren't we just setting up an environment where the moderator is simply asking questions, and stepping in if a candidate violates the rules? Nobody is there to listen to Jake Tapper, or Sean Hannity, or Rachel Maddow. They just care to get answers to questions asked that Americans want to learn about to understand the contrast. Trump saying he'll only debate if its part of essentially a Trump rally is ridiculous, and if you are arguing that Kamala owes him that venue then you are showing your hand that you are a Trump activist. .... Arguing the semantics of the analogy is nonsense as well. If you are whining about the Democrats being able to switch nominees before they even had a convention then you are just mad that your team isn't able to face a weaker opponent. Like the comparison to sports or not, this is meant to be a competition... not a coronation. I can't imagine being so entitled that I believe that in a Presidential election in a Democracy that one side is entitled to have the weakest possible candidate. If you feel like Trump's and your MAGA policies are the best policies for the country then you should feel confident putting them up against any candidate the Democrats or Libertarians or whomever put out there to debate against. You are not ENTITLED to win in a Democracy by having weak competition.
There is a system but both party ditched it and agreed on a new debate format, which then, is the replacement for it. A new de-facto standard, at least for this year, until Trump unilaterally decided, for strange reasons that I still don't get, ditch it.
Because that's not how politics works anymore. Obama is partly to fault for this with the bill he signed essentially letting the media run free. Ideally you'd have debates broadcast on free TV, with representatives from all sides of media which means it would not just be reserved for the TV pundits either. Is this what happened the last few times Trump debated? I thought he just wanted it on fox news Trump agreed to do the debates with Biden. Unless there was some stipulation in there saying if either candidate is switched out then the debate rules stands, I don't see why people think Trump doesn't have a right to reschedule a debate. I already said he should debate anyway, but a third debate on a platform more conservative leaning should be given since the first two were on left leaning. I don't know why you're trying to paint me as a Maga lover either. For some reason anyone who calls out the Democrats or cam see the point of view from Trump's angle is automatically labeled.
All I'm saying is it comes from both sides. I used to have MSNBC's primetime lineup memorized. Never missed a show usually and if I did I would record it. Rachel Maddow, etc., would always have segments of "look at what these dummies at Fox are saying" then post clips that showed fox news was fully of dummies. CNN was similar but not as bad (then), but I aligned with MSNBC more. Trump's first campaign run was the first time I was like "wtf?" because he'd have a whole rally, then MSNBC/CNN would imply he said something he didn't. The final straw was implying he was antisemitic. Trump? Antisemitic? Man would give his life for Israel lmao. So I flip to Fox for the first time ever and they are doing the same segments Rachel Maddow use to do but the reverse. So what yoy are seeing and basing your viewpoints are should be long form unedited videos and transcript, not these cut down headed news headlines and 30 second clips that imply basically BS.
Trump has a right to debate or not debate or re-negotiate terms which might include a network or moderator change. Nobody is saying that he should like legally be forced. Will it make him look scared though... maybe... maybe not. That's for voters to decide I guess. Will Kamala pay a price if she refuses to do a FoxNews debate with a MAGA crowd (which is what Trump is demanding for obvious reasons)???... maybe as well. Either way though Trump does not have the ability to DECLARE the terms like he did the other day. That declaration was laughable.
