Huge series. A sweep would put the Rangers season to bed and reverse Houston’s recent negative momentum. Getting swept would breathe life into the Rangers and make the division a 3 team race again.
Both teams have been struggling, so we'll see who struggles worse. Yordan needs some XBH --only one HR last 30 days. Altuve's OPS is ~735 since June. Season series is tied 5-5 and the more desperate team has faired better in each series. .
Hopefully the Astros set the tone for the series today. They have, historically, been good vs LHSP. All 3 RH outfielders should start and Dubon at first just because it's a better choice than Singleton. It looks like Tyler Mahle will be returning from injury to make his season debut (only 25.1 innings last year) in game 2. The Rangers have made it a habit of bringing pitchers back to face the Astros - let's wreck him.
And those pitchers coming back tend to do well against the Astros. Let's hope we can score a few runs.
This series needs to be a sweep. We've got the pitching to make this series a sweep, and hopefully everyone performs up to expectations. I have zero faith in this offense though.
