Four candidates ran that we all heard about. None of them are obscure if you followed politics in passing. You absolutely should care about policies unless you don't give a crap what happens one way or another. Now whether one is too emotionally vulnerable to get upset over dumb **** like ridiculously claiming to have Mexico pay for the wall or raging that someone is going to take your guns is a different issue. Foreign policy is incredibly important and the Biden administration failed miserably
I don't think the rest of the world fears a Trump presidency at all. The core irony of Trumpism is that it wants respect, but doesn't want to put in the work to maintain it. Leaving NATO doesn't make us strong; throwing candy at Angela Merkel doesn't make us strong; threatening to pull US troops out of South Korea doesn't make us strong. People point to Russia's invasion of Ukraine as an example of Biden's weakness. I'll counter that and suggest that Russia didn't invade Ukraine during Trump's tenure for two reasons: the 2018 World Cup and the pandemic. Russia wouldn't have done anything to jeopardize the former and the latter was a curveball. I think they invaded as fast as they could after those two events.
Both sides were putting up awful candidates. I understand why the incumbent side tried to stay with Biden as long as they did but ultimately they knew they’d have to make a change. Still wondering what the challenger side was thinking by running it back with somebody who had already lost, is 4 years older, is now a convicted felon, and had no other talking points prepared.
I totally agree with that. Instead, they focus on whether she is more Indian or more Black - just stupid. Force her to try and articulate, for instance, how she would combat inflation, and you would see that she is extremely vacuous. Unfortunately for the Republicans, Trump can't articulate things very coherently either (or does not want to). Everything will just be great, really great. Someone like Vivek or DeSantis (even though in a socially awkward way) can actually talk about policies and string together precise, coherent sentences which aren't just word salad (Kamala) or "it will be yuge, it will be great, it will be beautiful" (Trump). But here we are.
Almost like this game favors actual politicians vs. reality-tv game-show hosts. He got the one-off gig… wasn’t the best at it… lost….snd somebody thought it would be the best thing for an entire party to run it back.
We can run hypotheticals all day long. But the facts remain - The world is in a much higher state of volatility over the last 4 years. So again, policy. Is Harris going to continue to fully support Ukraine and escalate US resources? Is she going to turn her back on Israel and let the Middle East fall into a massive war zone? Is China going to take advantage of this and escalate issues with Taiwan? There are some real serious issues going on and Biden isn't bringing any reassurance.
So why is the party that is trying to win back leadership focusing on gender of olympians and ethnicities of candidates? Along with border control (which is a big issue, but not necessarily on the foreign policy scale)… but that will be the extent of policy that gets exclaimed without being fact-checked retcon’d.
Can you please, in cliff notes, articulate the policies from Vivek and/or RomnRon that would make average Americans better off. Thnk
Because people do not understand MAGA. Its like when the right tries to associate antifa with the moderate democrat. I refused to vote for Hillary or Trump in 2016. They were both disgraces. 2016 was rather tempered in politics so it didnt matter much. I voted for Biden in 2020 because I still believed Trump was extremely toxic. He continued to inject chaos when order was needed. 2024, Trump has become more moderate. He is talking about the things that are important to me. I do not see him as a savior complex, like many Republican and Democrats feel towards their candidates, but I do feel better knowing he isn't attacking the things that are important to me. Now maybe Harris can follow suit, but at this point, nobody knows her policies. She refuses to speak openly. And I think this is because of what I said back in March and April, back when Biden was crowned king .... If the Democrats do not have Biden swapped by June, they will have serious issues going into the election. Democrats have consolidated into one candidate quickly, resolving many of the previous problems. However Harris has never won a primary for good reason. And she has a reputations of being very unlikable. She has 2 months to fix this before the polls start opening and to date, she has done absolutely nothing outside of not being Trump. Even if Harris does win, her real problems are just beginning.
Maybe if you spent a little more time actually parsing her speeches and remarks over the last few years, instead of promoting the false notion that she's some sort of empty shell/DEI hire, all because she's not laid out her own version of Agenda47 in the two weeks since Biden dropped out, you might actually find some of the answers you seek. Like here for example, after meeting with Netanyahu a week ago...
The Olympics is a complete different animal. There is a much broader problem with the Olympics. Its full global stage and Americans are not the only ones worked up over this. Trump was speaking to NABJ. His message was clear to black journalist. Whether you agree with it or not is a different story. Trump knows his audience. Now sure, if he still campaigns on this to non black crowds, its stupid and absurd.
I wish that were true. At one time maybe it was. But the RNC won't support candidates unless they are election deniers. Trump has talked about the need to purge NON-MAGA from the party. He is the leader and nominee for the party. ANTIFA isn't in charge of the DNC. The Dems aren't talking about purging all NON-ANTIFA from the party. Their nominee isn't ANTIFA.
Vivek: smaller government by eliminating or downsizing several federal agencies - similar to what Milei did in Argentina ("afuera") meritocracy instead of a cult of victimhood (reducing ESG/DEI initiatives) against critical race theory, indoctrinating children with gender ideology and covid extremism (like vaccine mandates, lockdowns) pro civil liberties pro Israel limiting the Fed's mission to controlling inflation 8-year term limits for all unelected federal bureaucrats nuclear energy expansion Things I don't agree on with Vivek: He indicated he might want to withdraw from NATO and he wanted to raise the voting age to 25 (unless one would do a civil liberties test). DeSantis: lower and simpler taxes (no income taxes up to 40k or 50k USD and a flat tax above that) work on reducing government spending and increase energy production to battle inflation deport illegal immigrants pro Israel against woke-ism (including transgendering kids) decouple America from China, e.g. by more domestic pharmaceutical manufacturing empower parents increase funding for veteran mental healthcare services I'm sure there's more, but you asked for cliff notes.
If you need to blindly lockstep with an ideology, great site. I still eagerly await this moderate candidates policies. Strange concept, but moderation involves compromise, not posting a preamble about what everyone needs to believe.
Are you telling me that every single RNC member are election deniers? Because that is completely incorrect. Just like antifa is a loud voice from the extreme left, the election deniers are a loud voice from the extreme right. Denying elections is not a core believe in Republican believe structure.
Ok. She is Pro Israel Pro Palestine Demands both sides to take a unilateral cease fire That is a start.
I'm telling you that the RNC leader is and they have stated that to get funds you need to be an election denier and that all the RNC money is really for Trump anyway and not the lower ticket races. https://apnews.com/article/republic...taffing-cuts-46bc8afcc152aecfd471161a59b74005 https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...speakers-snubbed-not-on-schedule/74395252007/ https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/apr/01/republican-election-integrity-denier https://apnews.com/article/lara-tru...eshaping-gop-a407d7edbfb37739abc590540b2f206d https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/a...-denial-republican-house-speaker-race/675764/
So, you really don't want to know, but the other weird GOP talking points aren't working. Neither is this one...
