I know we're missing Tucker and Verlander, but man that is just not a true postseason contending roster.
With Tucker it's basically the exact same lineup we won the WS with, swap Yuli/Maldy for Diaz/Singleton. This lineup is worse because the good players at the top are worse, not the bottom which is what takes all the heat.
They need Tucker to get back Leon to be above avg Chas to get back to where he was JV to get healthy and become Cy JV. If this happens then the Stros can beat anybody.
Has Chas performed up to the standards he set last year? Singleton has been better than Abreu was last year. Dubon shouldn't be an everyday player. He needs a break' In no world should Pena be batting 5th in the lineup, particularly when he's slumping. Most of all if Crane/Dana were serious about winning a WS they would've improved the lineup with a vet Cahana type bat. What's happening now is to be expected. SMH
Smoked two balls in his first two ABs over 100 mph. First one was a single he tried stretching into a double and was actually safe with a swim move slide until he came off the base. Second one Siri made a running catch in the gap. Showed off the arm a couple times throwing to 3rd from RF…he’s got a plus arm for sure
Yep, but that's what they were telling us with the moves they made at the deadline. Arrighetti has to hold the Rays to 3 runs or less today or this will be another L. Maybe even 2 runs. This could be me being bitter about spending money going to the game last night and knowing I could've had more excitement at a funeral.
I hope we give him a good look while Tucker's out. I've been excited about seeing his tools for what seems like a lifetime!
Thanks for putting this out there for everybody for all to see. No need to improve the offense at the deadline.
I don’t think we need all of those things you listed to come true to have a chance at making a run in the postseason. As I mentioned yesterday, there’s not a single team on pace for 100 wins right now. Every team has its flaws. IMO we just need to get Tucker back, JV to pitch like he did last year, and most importantly, the back end of the bullpen has to be lights out. All is very doable. That being said, and why I agree with you not getting a bat may ultimately seal this team’s fate, they still don’t have any idea when Tucker is going to be back. He’s not even close to returning at this point. We probably aren’t getting in via the wild card and the division race is going to go down to the wire. The Mariners without question improved, as just adding league average bats was a huge improvement to their lineup. Garcia was a nice add to their pen, which had been leaking recently as well. Seems like we are taking a huge gamble on when Tucker returns, because if it’s mid or late September, I don’t know if this team even makes the playoffs.
