Shapiro as VP seems like an unforced error…Dems don’t need him to win PA, and he has the most baggage of the potential candidates by far

please let it be Tim Walz or play it safe with Beshear

He wants her to debate him in the middle of a Trump pep rally. He really is scared.

That’s an issue for other threads. So am going to hold off on delving into it here.

My point is that Shapiro isn’t unusual in his background nor is his position extreme given the current range of views regarding Israel Palestine.

He’s not calling for the expulsion of Palestinians or acting like Rome did towards Carthage in Palestinians. He’s expressing the view that Harris and Biden themselves have expressed.

Does he believe that the current government of Israel is doing an ethnic cleansing campaign in Gaza?

Again I like Tim Walz but I’m not sure he’s as foolproof. While to my knowledge nothing about his personal history is controversial as a rural representative his views on gun control have been more Right previously which may cause him some problems among national democrats.

He has faced criticisms with his response to George Floyd, it did take three days before the National Guard were fully deployed. He has also faced criticisms on his CoVId policy as Minnesota did have lockdowns. Some suburban bars defied them. Also SD governor Noem specifically targeted Minnesota with ads encouraging businesses to move to SD.

Much of Northern MN is very opposed to him regarding CoVId policies and also his opposition to mining projects.

If he is the VP I’m sure Republicans will go very hard after him on those issues.

I’ve never heard Shapiro use the term “ethnic cleansing” in regards to Gaza and my understanding is he supports Israel’s actions.

I’m pretty sure though that neither Has Harris, Tim Walz or any of the other people considered for Harris VP said that Israel was engaged in
    ethnic cleansing.

If that’s what you’re looking for in a VP prepare to be disappointed

I know. Empathy for Palestinians isn't in the Overton window for us Americans yet. Maybe another decade or so.

I’d rather have that than someone who will bring the Isreal/Palestine problem to the forefront…the man wrote he volunteered for the IDF and brought up the KKK when talking about pro-Palestinian protestors

Shapiro threatened the ice cream manufacturer Ben and Jerry’s with an injunction to prevent the firm from barring sales to East Jerusalem and other communities in the Occupied Territories. As governor, he’s backed a bill to withdraw state funds from universities considering divestment from Israel.

I don’t see the problem with the Covid stuff when everywhere had lockdowns unless he was doing some draconian stuff that no other state was doing…TX had lockdowns that businesses tried to defy, and business owners even got arrested down here

Shapiro has been in favor of school vouchers. How popular is that amongst Democrats?

Then there’s the 300k his office paid to settle a sexual harassment case with his aid using Shapiro’s name to threaten the victim. Who knows what else is out there.

I don't trust Fox News to not provide Trump with the questions beforehand

Fox News is an propaganda/entertainment network- not a news network. This is an organization that paid 780M+ in damages to Dominion for defamation lol

he’s popular in his state, but nationally, I think he could hurt the Harris ticket more than any other finalist candidate

only wants to debate Kamala on Fox News after setting all the rules, hand picking the moderators, and having a crowd full of MAGAts to disrupt Kamala when she’s speaking and cheer on his every lie

he had no problem with ABC or debates when it was Joe Biden…matter of fact, he was begging for more

but now that it’s Kamala and not grandpa Joe, coward Trump is now bringing that “I don’t want any problems, I was just kidding” energy…this pathetic guy is a loser

James Carville says Harris should tell far-left to ‘go f— themselves’ — so she has better shot of beating Trump
    By Jon Levine
    Published Aug. 3, 2024, 10:08 a.m. ET

Vice President Harris should dump far-left progressives if she wants to win the White House, said Democratic political strategist James Carville.

“I wish she’d tell them all to go f— themselves,” Carville, 79, said during an episode of his “Politics War Room” podcast this week.

“Understand this, and I’m going to say this as clearly as I can: Anybody that has ever listened to anything that the progressive left has ever said has lived to profoundly regret it. Literally on every issue, they’re dead a– wrong,” Carville added.

Carville said troubles from Biden’s presidency, like the ongoing crisis at the U.S. border, were caused by listening to progressive voices.

“And why is the border an issue? Because Biden listened to these people early in his term. They weren’t just wrong; they were catastrophically wrong. Understand that,” he insisted. “These people are not just wrong — they’re literally walking catastrophes. And the faster people realize that, the better off they’re going to be. And they don’t have very much power.”

Carville, a one-time top aide to former President Clinton, has long made a name for himself as a straight shooting moderate, unafraid of upsetting the far-left flank of his party.

In March, Carville also complained that the Democratic party had “too many preachy females.”

‘Don’t drink beer. Don’t watch football. Don’t eat hamburgers. This is not good for you … Everything you’re doing is destroying the planet. You’ve got to eat your peas,” he harangued to columnist Maureen Dowd.

The line drew a rebuke from progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who sniped that Carville should “start a podcast.”

During an appearance on “Firing Line” with Margaret Hoover last month, Carville said Harris was competitive, but warned she was in for a tough race and would “get slaughtered” in Republican attack ads.

“I think that she has a record, she’s going to have to come up with some proposals. But I think a lot of it is going to depend on her ability to define herself, and I actually think she’s going to have to introduce herself, because she’s really not that well known,” Carville said.

“Republicans are going to try to introduce her on their terms. I don’t blame them. I would do the same thing. And she’s going to have to get good fast,” he added.

Kamala isn't gonna play into their hands. Good for her.

“Donald Trump is running scared and trying to back out of the debate he already agreed to and running straight to Fox News to bail him out,” Harris campaign spokesperson Michael Tyler said in a statement shared on X by NBC News political correspondent Yamiche Alcindor.

“He needs to stop playing games and show up to the debate he already committed to on [10 September]. The vice-president will be there one way or the other to take the opportunity to speak to a prime-time national audience. We’re happy to discuss further debates after the one both campaigns have already agreed to.

“Mr Anytime, anywhere, anyplace should have no problem with that unless he’s too scared to show up on the 10th.”

She said in July that she was “ready” to debate Trump and accused him of stepping back from the previous agreement involving ABC.

Good. Fox News would cut her off while letting Donold ramble on- whenever it suits Trump. It's a waste of time. Harris should stick to her guns.
