All I want to know is if he has learned to shoot 3's. He use to say, "ALWAYS" in practice.

"Sengun and 3-pointers - ALWAYS; Jalen Green and 3-pointers -NOT SO MUCH" - according to Jalen Green

Sengun hitting 3-pointers opens up the paint and guys like Jalen Green, VanVleet, Cam Whitmore,
Dillon Brooks, Jabari will be getting less clutter in the paint allows for easier shots and higher FG%.
Unselfishness....thinking of his teammates in team concepts.

Sengun not hitting 3's and playing 30+ minutes mucks up everything, allows multiple defenders
to patrol the lane, makes things more difficult on others.
    Selfish......SOFer's don't care about the teammates..only about 3-point
shooters around Sengun so that Sengun has space to post up and pass or
score. NOT TEAM FRIENDLY within team concepts. Udoka wants Sengun
to have more of that Jokic play or Horford. Both can shoot and make threes.

ROY is pretty meaningless. A lot of guys won by getting lots of counting stats on bad teams and never amounted to anything great in their subsequent careers.

Not in this case. Edey winning ROY means Memphis is the new powerhouse team. This is what makes the genius pick by Memphis so scary. Especially if Edey is hitting his threes at a good clip.

He took 2 3s in 4 years and was 71% from the line. Why will he be hitting 3s at a good clip this season?

I do think Edey was a good pick for Memphis. They are indeed a contender if Ja can stay on the floor.

I think the biggest question when it comes to Edey is if he can stay healthy and if the speed and strength of the NBA is too much for him.

I’d agree with this. I just think he landed in the perfect spot for his skill set. He would be a bad fit for a lot of teams, especially the Rockets.

The track record for NBA players above 7'1" is really bad injury wise. Kristaps Porzingis is about the best you can reasonably expect and he played as many games as Ralph Samson through their first 8 years.

In fairness, didn’t we all (including me) say the same thing about Amen Thompson’s age last year? Look, Edey is extremely good and talented and deserves better than this ridiculous age baiting. I could easily counter by saying he didn’t start playing bball until he was 16 which means he’s only been playing for 6 years of his life versus all these others who’ve been playing for twice as long if not longer.

Amen is almost 2 years younger and has already played a year in the nba

Don't think any of past crop of guys was close in top three in ROTY voting.

    Jalen top 2
    Jabari top 3
    Amen top 4

Reed may be our last top 5 picks in a while.

I wouldn't mind if Reed gets a crack at roty. That said, minutes-wise, the top two picks: ATL and Wizards will likely get more. Edey also likely get the starting nod in Mem.

Situationally speaking he may not get it, but it's a nice hope.

Thompson was 20 during SL, but yes, if he struggled I'd be very concerned as well considering his more advanced age.

Assuming that a latecomer to the sport has "more room to grow" is a bit of a fallacy in and of itself. Most of them don't drastically improve their skills in their mid 20s.

6 years of bball in his life and has been to the championship game and won two college bball player of the year awards and now is competing with Reed for ROY honors per the NBA executives. How much more can we expext in such a short period of time. He’s 22 and will be playing for Memphis for the next 15 seasons. People here getting excited about 37 year old Durant and ripping on a guy who is barely 22.

Further….Atlanta and Washington fans should be beside themselves for taking two “younger” players from France of all places (just because of that idiot Wembley) and passing on an American gem who could have turned their franchises around for the next 10+ years.

Damn I didn't know they did ROY voting this early. Congrats Reed on your accomplishment.
