I remember the Deshaies one. He was a rookie having a great year. He k’d the first 8 of the game, which either tied or broke the record for consecutive strikeouts to start a game. It was during the pennant race and against the Dodgers.

exactly what we need. Maybe he'll light a damn fire under some guys.

But 11 punch outs very nice.

Pitched a 2-hit shutout that night.

Couple of guys tied it then somebody broke that record a couple of years ago, no idea who.

First off, I'll reiterate the Rangers announcers are the absolute worst in the biz.

I was actually watching the game when he hit the HR. The call by the PBP guy was so over the top, you would swear it broke a tie in the bottom of the 8th. It was the bottom of the 1st inning and nobody was on base. Just ridiculous.

We gotta pray we get this type of performance 2 out of every 3 of his starts. And then deal with a mediocre outing in the other one.

Not sure if it was the same series but we were down to the Dodgers 6-1 and the Astros scored 3 in the 8th and 3 in the 9th to win it. They had the magic going down the stretch that year, that’s for sure. As a 13 year old, it was pure Heaven for me. **** the Mets.

(I think it was the same series that Deshaies broke the record)

Noob Question: what is more important a bat or a pitcher?

Over the course of a season, a good SP is more important than a good hitter imo

I do envision a time when the most on edge this place will get is during Framber and Yousei starts…. And they may just be (far/away) the best 1-2 starters going forward.

Regular season you can argue bat, but it's debatable.

Playoffs pitchers are 1000% more important.

I wonder if that was after Espada told him to stop throwing fastballs down the middle…

That was the biggest 180 of the year for any Astros player during the same game… on days that end in Y and when the moon is in a waning gibbis.

That's correct and Tommy Fatsorda pinch hit the pitcher, he said no way he was gonna watch another guy strike-out.
