Where are all the instances of Kamala Harris referring to herself as "African American" anyway? Even accepting a distinction in definition between being Black+ US-born versus being "African-American" (i.e., descended from slaves in the US), why is this a topic of discussion? Trump was casting doubt on her identity as a Black person: “She was always of Indian heritage, and she was only promoting Indian heritage. I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago, when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black. So I don’t know, is she Indian or is she Black?” the former president said." Defending that with "She's not African American" is just a non sequitur.
I think all this discussion - from both sides - about her "race" is stupid. Has she actually outlined any vision or policies? Can people start talking about that?
I'll discuss with anyone so long as it's a real conversation and not the pissing match that's usual in this forum. Look, I get why people say they don't know how far left she will be. Culturally she is definitely further to the left. But she's actually a moderate from California who had to push a far left image because of that. Evidence is in her time before a senator where as a prosecutor and AG she was tough on crime and criminals. She also denied gender affirming care to inmates which got her a lot of criticism. She's considered tough on the border and she did raise 5 billion dollars from private companies to help address the issues causing people to flee countries in the first place. She back the bipartisan immigration deal as well. She tough on China as well. Where she is left, she isn't going to get much done anyway. But for the most part, she's going to continue with Biden's policies. She's not going to be a boon for AI or bitcoin, which sucks. And I know you will hate her climate change initiatives but again, not really going to impact much at all. I doubt the capital gains tax shifts much if at all. Our system is broken. Harris isn't going to fix it. But Trump will do worse than not fix it, he'll throw the baby out with the bathwater. And I don't know about you, but I just want to enjoy the next 20-30 years with out the instability that a Trump like candidate creates. If Trump was a democrat (as he used to be) and was running on a populist leftist agenda ala Bernie Sander, I would 100% vote for a Republican to stop him. You can not put someone like that in power. I know you know that.
I largely agree with this post. Harris will most likely continues Biden’s policies. She might be a bit harder on Israel I don’t think she will abandon and not send aid to Israel. I also find it interesting how people criticize her for being such a Leftist while simultaneously bringing up how tough she was as a prosecutor.
