All this money throw away on Montero, Abreu, LMJ, but can’t offer Tucker a $300m deal because those don’t work out.

(Not exactly the best time to expand on Tucker’s durability or ability to age well)

Fluke injury to a player who has never had issues previously.

In fairness to Crane, its not the $300M that he has publically opposed. It's the 10 years, and even LMJs deal is only 6.

So just put that $300M in 6 years and get the deal done !! (Kidding)

    Well 99% kidding.

Maybe, but Tucker has been pretty injury free otherwise. This year not quite the best for his injury history though.

so that's twice Garcia has got revved up and ready to go only to back off. He ain't coming back this year- scratch him off.
LMJ coming back would be a miracle and you shouldn't believe in miracles with that dudes health. I guess if JV can pitch with a bad neck without making his ligament tear (thanks med staff for Javier) that would be good, but whatever.

Do we go to cut rate surgeons b/c Crane has a 2 for 1 card?
Is our training staff handling the rehab just that bad?
    Are our guys lazy jake's?
Or is this just really really really rotten luck?

Like- it's absurd how our guys keep having TJ surgery which is really really straightforward and sees most everyone back in 12-15 and it taking forever. Or maybe not. But it sure feels that way.

Were I Crane I think I'd fire the entire training and medical staff and start completely over, just to be sure. It's been bad seemingly for a long time.

At this point you got to shut down Garcia, right?

I think you’re taking surgery and the violent act of throwing a baseball for granted.

Garcia is 14 months from the surgery. For comparison sake, JV had his TJ surgery in September of 2020, rested all of 2021, and was back without any restrictions in ST 2022. We didn’t have to go through the intermittent soreness in between revving things up because he wasn’t trying to pitch competitively for the playoffs in 2021 (even though he wanted to at first). Garcia does have youth on his side but the arm and inflammation still has to respond appropriately for him to pitch effectively.

LMJ had a far less “routine” procedure and was always facing the longer road (if he ever comes back).

JV’s recovery is solely based on how effective he can throw/get guys out. He’s had more times this year where he’s looked his age vs looking dominant. Somewhat expected for a guy 40+. Hopefully this reset will be enough to stave off the soreness (and allow him to pitch effectively) for the remaining innings.

I am pretty sure that the players pick their surgeon.

...and hire replacements from the exact same pool of people who are working for teams (college/minors/pros) who are having the exact same issues?

Can we just go and sign Yuli Gurriel off the Braves AAA roster? Not a rhetorical question. Seriously wondering how that would work.
