The funny thing is, if the OP just posted that Sengun is the numero uno and all other numero unos are fake, I think people would just continue with basketball discussions under it.
I hear ya. Thats awesome. Great genes in mine too. I was 27 and she was 42. Lived together 8 years. Then on and off in codependence for another 4 Much more like a marriage than my marriage at 22. My third and final soulmate shall come in the flow...and, I'm pretty sure it'll go the distance.
Silas and the team tanking has to be considered if you are honest. Threads were made, "Why is Silas just putting Jalen in the corner?" Jabari and Amen had less Silas and less tanking........threads were also made of, "Why is Silas putting Jabari in the corner?" But those tanking aren't taught to do well.......they might win too many games. John Lucas was a great coach according David Robinson, but was trash on a Cavs team tanking for LeBron. John Lucas was great with the Spurs, but lousy coaching 76ers as they were tanking for Joe Smith. See a pattern, how players and coaches can put up trash numbers when tanking? -------------- We have only been trying to win this past season vs the two prior......with new coaches it usually takes players a two or three months to catch on. Over paid free agents VanVleet and Dillon Brooks had the ball too much in their hands.........which is why I said no to them as they were signed. I knew their usage was going to take away from JG4, Jabari, Tari, Cam Whitmore. I called that before the season started.
Ah yes, all of the excuses in the world that only made Jalen suck but somehow didn't hurt Sengun, or Jabari, or Amen..... Funny how that's always the case
...you guys probably don't want to hear this but I think the correct answer is - Jalen will likely be A LOT better playing along side Reed. It's not that we need to allow Green to run the offense a la Harden(he doesn't have to be Numero Uno) - it's that we need Reed and Sengun being dangerous enough and having enough gravity in the two man game that when the ball swings to Green he is facing a single defender rather than 2-3 guys because teams so far would FAR prefer overloading on Jalen first and Sengun second(when he is within 12ft of the hoop) in that order. Both Reed and Jabari make it really hard for teams to cover the floor and there is no single defender who can stay in front of Jalen so if you simplify his read process by sending one man towards him, he can figure out how to get a good shot from that. It's the "the whole defense collapses on Jalen and he takes a bad shot or makes a late pass to a bad shooter" that has gummed up the offense in the recent past....and oh yeah, Numero Dos needs to develop a respectable long distance shot.
Glad you’re optimistic. I’m hopeful for the best outcome but nervous because we have 2 guys here that have a lot of great things but also some glaring deficiencies. Let’s all pray this is the year everything comes together and they both break out. What an awesome story that would be!
I would say Jabari needs to improve his dribble drive. When teams run him off or when he tries to take it to the paint. Also dribble to pullup j transitions.
There’s never been a time when Jalen received the ball on a PnR kick out and he had 2-3 defenders on him. Jalen just takes too many bad shots in those instances. Too often he’ll either dribble when it’s not necessary, get into a stepback J or take it from too far away. All he needs to do is catch and shoot straight up and down from near the 3PT line (he makes 38-39% of these 3’s). It’s just a shot selection issue with him. He had bad habits before the NBA then Silas let him reinforce those bad habits at an insane volume for two years. Likely, Udoka understands habits very well - how they form and how they disappear. He’s discussed this many times. The reason Sheppard will be great for Jalen is because hopefully he’s an elite shooter who will increase our spacing and he can play a fast pace unlike FVV. Great for Sengun too. FVV has been amazing for us but pace and ball movement does not suit him. He wants to play slow and dominate the ball. Reed and Amen will be coming for his minutes this season.
This is why sengun is numero dos. he can put up numbers but in the 4th when it’s closing time, we need the guy who can create his own shot - Jalen.
Dillon Brooks was +14. He's the best player in the game, right? That's how your logic works? "Superstar" Amen Thompson was -19, absolute ****ing bust man, wtf.
