“I’ll post pictures of her wearing a sari, to remind people this woman named Kamala is Indian” - Donald Trump No **** she has Indian ancestry. She is a multiracial multiethnic American. She didn’t change her name and she is very open about her heritage. No one who is considering voting for her and many of the people considering voting for him give a damn.
What happens when a president steps down or decides not to run for re-election? Who usually is the next in line?
A political party led by a normal person would do just that. This is Trump: petty, incapable of admitting he's wrong, and, fundamentally, an ugly person. The GOP is in thrall to him for as long as he runs for office and is therefore incapable of doing what you just said.
What he's doing is putting Georgia back in play and juicing African-American turnout on her behalf. Good luck to him if they turn out at Obama-era levels.
Does the GOP really want to center around policy. Most of their intellectual leaders are complaining about how women don't breed enough. The whole "weird" thing would pop up.
Because having a VP take over as candidate is unheard. And telling Mike Pence to do the right thing while an unruly mob is breaking into the capital is completely normal.
I think it is tactically stupid, but more importantly, just wrong to focus on her race. It was a little bit funny to troll her on her obvious pandering, but do it once and leave it at that and focus on the actual policies. She stands for BAD, FAILED policies. And state what your own policies are - what is the vision for the future - you don't win by just being petty and trying to tear down others.
I don't think they do. Our political incentive structure means they never have to really deviate from their core goals of giving away more money to the wealthy. The rest is just window dressing so long as they can use wedge issues to win >50 but <60 Senate seats and win the electoral college.
Is it pandering to attend Howard University and join the AKA sorority? That's some serious long-term planning if that was her goal.
I'm talking about focusing on one part of the heritage when convenient, but more about changing the way she talks when the crowd is predominantly black. Hillary doing it was even more ridiculous lol.
Code switching is a thing. Perfectly normal. Same if you or I were talking to a bunch of rural Idahoans vs Manhattanites we would use different speaking styles to be relatable.
FOX & their friends are intentionally conflating and confusing a political party (basically a private club) with democratic system of governance (public, national, mutual). Very different things with different sets of rules. Did Ross Perot win some democratically observant primary system to get on the ballot in 1992? No, I don't think so. Ralph Nader? RFK Jr.? Anybody can run for president. We happen to have two enormous, long-running clubs that routinely run people for office, but we could have thousands of these clubs, or none of them. Anybody can run for office, and ideally, that's part of the beauty of our system. Primaries don't have to happen at all. They're just a process by which the political clubs try to engage their members. In the 2020 election, the GOP didn't really run an actual primary. They basically just decided to let the impeached Trump run as an incumbent. And the democrats basically did the same thing this year, until their incumbent bowed to polling data and political pressure and basic reality. I wish each party would have a fully open season type primary every cycle, but they do not, historically, and no law requires them to.
