Trump is completely melting down because he knew how to attack Biden. He and the party spent 4+ years on attacking Biden, setting up those narratives etc. Now that Kamala is in, they are scrambling, and they have nothing other than attacking her based on her gender, race, or both.
That and he hates the fact that now he's the only candidate around 80 years old, that is cognitively deteriorating both physically and mentally before our eyes.

The irony here is that I think social media algorithms made like minded people spam narratives confirming each other in some insular bubble to where it might make Trump lose the election. These insults about Kamala not being black, sleeping her way into power, being a "DEI hire" work well in insular social media groups where people are meming amongst like minded folks and assume these takes are popular because everyone you share it with is laughing with you because they've created a bubble around them without knowing and don't realize these memes don't work with normies.
It happened because he's a terrible, old, doddering, ranting, angry man who has lost the GOP every election since 2016. He's surrounded by yes men.
