Hays, Edman, Pham etc ... There were fairly inexpensive upgrades available. I worry that Dana isn't wired into all of the clubs and has a limited number of clubs he has relationships with.
Those 3 do not represent upgrades, certainly not at the cost of prospects. Those are lateral moves made for the sake of making a move.
Yes they do represent upgrades. There were many other upgrades available, but Dana seemed to be focused on the Rays.
Tommy Pham is possibly the most hated player in MLB. There's a reason he's played on something like 14 teams in 12 years. I never, ever, want to see him on the Astros, I don't care if he hits .350 with 35 HRs (which he will not)
They are not upgrades. They are lateral moves, at best. But even if we grant that they are upgrades, you - who is complaining about a clear upgrade at SP - would not be satisfied. These are Trey Mancini-like moves. And yes, Brown was focused on the Rays because they dealt two very good, useful bats and were, by many reports, offering another bat - all 3 significantly better than Hays, Pham and/or Tommy freaking Edman. Why is engaging with the one team that seemed ready to deal quality bats a bad thing?...
Why is Aledmys Diaz on the roster? If they thought they "fixed" him than why hasn't he played in a week and why is he 0 for 4 w/ 2Ks since joining the team 9 days ago? And if they haven't fixed them why is he taking up a roster spot? This team already had a pretty rough position players #s 8-13 without him.
The 13th position player holds as much value for cheerleading and versatility than as an actual player. Kessinger didn’t play. Amaya didn’t play. Hummel didn’t play. Diaz won’t play. And that’s ok.
Ferguson is much younger and without a doubt has better "stuff" But Crane just ate all that money to clear a spot for a guy we traded a prospect for, who has been worse than Montero this year lol
We went over the second level tax penalty after the deadline transactions so we where free to pay him off and send him packing without increasing our tax penalty level.
