Metchie and Pierce are two guys that I really have zero expectations for going into the season. Either of them producing anything of significance would be almost found money for me. In Metchie's case, it would really be nice if he turned into something, making it easier to let Diggs walk after this season.
Pierce had 900 yards in 12 games in his rookie season. He punished defenders. How do you give up on somebody like that? The scheme changed and really messed with him. If anything, he's at least a decent trade chip.
Don’t remember ever seeing a starting QB play in the HOF game. When’s the last time that had happened?
I like it Kenyon Pitre Metchie Pierce Whatcha gonna get? I have high hopes for all 4, especially the top 2-3
I don't know that I would say it's giving up just to lower your expectations. I'm not suggesting they cut the guy. I'm just thinking his first season was more an aberration and last season is more realistic, which wasn't much. But I'll happily be proven wrong.
I don’t usually watch the HOF game or much of any preseason football, so I have no idea who normally plays. I view these games as a glorified practice session. Seems like a perfect opportunity to get a rookie a little experience running a few simple plays or something. However, I do understand they want to avoid injuries. A veteran starting QB I can totally understand not playing. A rookie QB I think could benefit from taking a few snaps. No big deal either way.
Understood. I don't think I've ever made it past half the first quarter but tomorrow will be different since it's the first time we've played in this game since I believe our inaugural season. Just don't see a point in a No. 1 overall pick QB playing an extra preseason game where there won't be any starters.
I like to watch these games to key on the organization and sharpness of the backups. If they are up to speed, aware and on top of their assignments it bodes well for the rest of the team. If they are running around confused and ill prepared its a huge red flag for me.
Yes, I agree. But for a regular preseason game. HOF game will be different since we're starting with backups. Once the second half comes about, it's normally a bunch of guys we just don't care about. This is probably the first time since 2020 that I know over 95% of the roster. Atleast by name. Will be tuned in for the entire game this time since we look like real contenders.
Organizationally there shouldnt be much drop off in getting in and out of substitutions and understanding assignments in my opinion. I dont really care about the score or even the execution in these games from 3rd and 4th stringers I agree.
