I don't know what the Astros offered - but the Rays probably should have moved Diaz today, his value will never be higher and the Astros, Yankees and Pirates all had a gun to their head.
Asking price was obviously ridiculous...glad Astros didn't pull the trigger if so. Like I speculated, Yandy isn't realistic.
But are the Padres really worse off? They're in contention this year and still had a boat-load of prospects to trade for what eventually turned out to be Snell/Hader replacements in Cease/Scott.
Crochet literally got exactly what he wanted. He gets to pitch another handful of games for the White Sox and then shut it down until this Winter when he will have a big say in where he is traded to because of his contract demands.
It’s baseball…just get hot at the right time. That’s all that ever matters in baseball. Best regular season team of all time is a franchise that still hasn’t won a pennant. Meanwhile the Marlins have 2 rings.
Of course they are worse off. They’d have had even more prospects if they’d have moved those guys. And they got nothing out of either of them, not even a shitty comp pick.
I wonder if the Rays were even serious about trading him. Just threw his name out there to see if anyone would blow their skirt up.
