Lol. Leon's K issues have been posted here for years (literally) but he has improved every year. If you are just talking K numbers, give me Leon over Joey every day. Leon: 2022-28.8%K 2023-28.4%K 2024-26.2%K Loperfido AAA-28.0%K MLB-36.4%K
You don't ever want to feel your favorite team is being disingenuous. The big league coaches saw very little of Bloss before he was brought up. That was communicated ad nauseum on the game. I just think once they saw him in person he just didn't measure up.
Then that’s a huge blow to this teams draft process, scouting process, and minor league development process. you don’t promote guys straight from AA unless you’re enamored by something translatable. I agree that he looked off… whether it was mechanics or he’s just not good enough…. But why even promote him then?
Since this post the Astros are 22-11. I'm replying now instead of waiting 4 more games because if the Astros don't make another trade then I may be out for the summer.
NOW is the time to get Tyler Anderson, now that he won't have to be the best starter brought in. That said, a 1b/LF now needs to be the top priority. You traded away a little of the future for 2024. Can't quit now or else the trade is even worse. If they make the,W S. the deal is a success regardless of the careers those 3 end up with. But this team is still short 1-2 bats And since Bloss went out, the rotation still needs innings to help Arrighetti, Blanco, and probably Hunter stay fresh/healthy.
Don't see anything special with this guy, and the Astros never get a Japanese/Korean player posted soooo, I'm good
If all Dana does this trade deadline is add Kikuchi and Ferguson I will be disappointed. Buying low but paying a premium price isn't good for the long term health of the franchise. Dana needs to keep hitting on 4-5 prospects a year if he's.going to operate like he has this trade deadline.
I think a lesson was learned, undoubtedly. I expect more Jose Urquidy type- recovering from injury/good bet for a rebound SP who have options remaining and can be stashed in AAA signed in the offseason by teams. In fact, it is the perfect reason to offer Urquidy a 2 yr extension for peanuts due to the TJS.
That’s probably my biggest gripe with Brown’s roster management. He should have had 2-3 Eric Lauer types in AAA on opening day instead of hoping guys like Tamarez, Henley, Kouba, and Gusto would be able to come help out early this year.
