What’s funny is in real life Pittsburg is probably better off 7 out of 10 times with that package if those guys are all MOR quality. I think you’d have to throw arrighetti in there to be fair. But starters get hurt all the time and even if he doesn’t and he’s awesome there’s a ton of value in having a starting rotation made up of league minimum guys of average quality. And at Pittsburgh payroll number they need to worry about as many functional contributors as possible, not consolidating WAR into one or two superstar level spots. like I said- it would never happen but it’s a really interesting though experiment to me.
Skenes has one problem. He plays in Pittsburgh. It's not a place you become famous. It's not hollywood. It's blue collar. They've had stars before, and they all walked. So from a fame level, he's off to a slow start just by being in the wrong location at the wrong time. He's gonna lose years out there, if not an entire career, in a dead and dying steel town.
