Whatever (I don't mean directed at you) - Brown can change the order all he wants when he speaks to different people, but the reality is that they don't really have an order. They want all three and they have been trying to trade for all three. The hardest to get will likely be a bat. The preference is a lefty that can play 1st and corner outfield, but they really don't care as long as they can hit. The Astros are talking to teams about all three positions, but the issue is that the sellers have very high costs because there are only so many sellers. Teams like the Astros, Dodgers and Yankees are all hoping that a team or two like Toronto decide that they want to sell now and not during the winter, that would lower prices a bit and allow for more possible trade targets. They really want to get one or two of those needs filled before the day of the deadline to make sure they get something done.
I appreciate what you are passing along. Anything that is irritable in response to your stuff shouldn't be construed as shooting the messenger- I get what you are doing. It's the Astros that have me a bit irritated right now. Dana should probably just not talk the way he does. Boy- it was depressing as hell listening to him on Sunday sound like he had nothing he was going to get done and then the Paredes news (to the F-ing Cubs) coming out 10 minutes after he got off the air.
They are allegedly in on Yandy Diaz now. Sounds like they (like the Cubs) are more likely to buy. Which is completely awesome and certainly helps un**** things for everyone else. Grrrrrr.
Just go get Mountcastle and one of Snell and Flaherty. The prospect cost shouldn't be that high. Probably 5 of the top 10 prospects and a couple of lotto lower level prospects.
Snell should be basically free. Chas should be the centerpiece of a Mountcastle deal. I would imagine the cost of doing that would be something like Chas, 2 top 10 guys and a couple lotto tickets.
I thought they liked him earlier for some reason/ because their CF sort of sucks and he consistently until this year mashed LHP- but maybe I got that wrong. They also don’t seem to be in on anyone we are so I Janet paid that much attention. Still- the point remain a haul of snell and Mountcastke better not ****ing cost 5 of our top 10 prospects or I’m going to light Dana Browns ass on fire the next time I’m at Minute Maid for missing out on a couple of the guys traded last week. 5 of the top 10 prospects plus 2 lotto tickets should get you Snell and Luis Robert Jr or Vlad Guerrero and Gausman.
Oh I don't mind your comments. My response of "whatever" is to Dana Brown as a speaker with the media and others involved. A lot of people in the game will vouch for Dana Brown and I do not doubt his talent evaluation skills - but he sucks talking to the media, because he talks like a fan. He literally says anything that crosses his mind. I would say he should do what Theo Epstein eventually did, say nothing and defer to others in the organization to speak - but I am afraid we would get Bagwell or Jackson or Cabell answering questions.... Brown let someone else speak on the draft, and half the board wanted to punch the guy in the face..... so IDK - let Cook or Dickey speak would be my preference. Even post deadline, Brown is going to only give us a version of what happened. Maybe that is better than the old days would Brown would blow up at subordinates.
I doubt the Orioles are interested in position players, unless they are highly rated guys at least 2-3 years away.
This sets up nicely for the Dodgers to get Snell or Flaherty. They got Kopech, a flame thrower to put in their pen and they got the Gold Glove caliber super utility guy in Edman to start when needed and to play all over the diamond.
