I think they'll get Kikuchi which isn't much. Seems lately he falls apart after 4 to 5 innings so a tandem with someone(Arrighetti?)could work. Sounds like Brown wants 2 starters so could potentially be Kikuchi and another starter.
I don't know man- if he keeps it rolling like he has right now in the last month I think it's an almost certainty that he opts out if healthy.
Snell is opting out. He's not going to risk another year of possibly injury knowing he could easily get another 2-3 3 year opt outs if needed in the off season. Players love opt outs because they get security for a few years if it doesn't pan out but once they have a big year can go for that lucrative one to play out their career.
Framber Snell Hunter Blanco Spaghetti Verlander/Garcia Hader Press Abreu Scott Dubin/Martinez King/Murphee Garcia Altuve Bregs Yordan Tuck Diaz Mountcastle/Big John Jake Pena Dubon/Lopo/Trey Need to pick and choose a bit to get to 26 . . . but the 26 man looks pretty good even expanding out in September and (either way) can send Bloss down, where he should be. **assuming Chas gets traded
Only to have Crane come back over the top pissed. I actually think they’ll do something, even if it’s underwhelming for fans.
My ideal playoff roster: 2B Altuve 3B Bregman DH Alvarez RF Tucker 1B Y Diaz* C Y Diaz SS Pena CF Meyers LF Loperfido Bench: Dubon, Caratini, Cabbage, Salazar Rotation: Framber, Gausman*, Verlander, Brown Bullpen: Hader, Pressly, Abreu, Kopech*, Scott, Martinez, Blanco, Garcia, McCullers
This is literally exactly what I've been saying is the absolute worst course of action for an entire month and exactly what I think is likely. It's hard to describe how much I hate this course of action. Oh well.
Still a bit light on hitting. 6 and 7 in that lineup really need to be 7 and 8, with a better run producer @ 6
That's a lousy 7/8/9 and not really all that good at 5 & 6 when you are talking about the elite of the elite, and I'd assume we'd be favored to lose pitching wise games 1 & 2 of any series. Games 3&4 we might be considered the favorites. Playoffs are a crap shoot so we could see MVP Jake Meyers or Mauricio Dubon (I imagine he'd platoon with Loperfido in that scenario) as anything can happen- but I'd bet on us not making it 8 in a row if that's the roster. That Bullpen would be nasty AF though. Like 12 outs most nights from the starters should be just plenty.
You are talking about 2 guys that are essentially a bit above league average offensively in the 6 &7 and the 5 hitter is a whopping 7% better. Need one more thumper. If you had Rooker at 5 that’s a perfect lineup, but instead you’d be basically average at 5-8 and below average at 9. That’s not good enough on paper (realizing anything can happen over the small sample size that is the playoffs). Edited to add- when I say average hitters in Pena and Meyers and below average those are guys with massive holes in their swings that consistently give pretty poor AB's against really good pitching. I think Yainer is better than his numbers show and can hit good pitching- but you are begging to get chewed up 5-9 against a good staff in the playoffs. That roster would make us better than the M's and Rangers as we chase the division title between here and there though in my opinion- so it would likely help us get there, which is the first and foremost thing we have to worry about. Tuck isn't back before September it doesn't look like. JV and Garcia aren't even at the rehab start point in their progress and 1 out of 5 times in a turn through the rotation we've been non-competitive. This team is relying upon smoke and mirrors right now and that would do away with some of it- but need to be better imo.
I'm guessing Matthews and Bloss are the top two on other teams list and also the two Dana is holding on to with his life Lot more moves this year coming before the final day On Snell, he is almost CERTAIN to opt out if he stays healthy and doesn't fall apart, the last thing he wants is to get yet another year older before looking for another long term deal
Are you talking about league average against all other hitters or are you comparing them to the league average hitter in the 6th and 7th spots in the order? I can't imagine you are using the latter which is what needs to be the comparison. I got this graphic off Reddit from 2022. So you would need to compare the wrc+ of our 9th place hitter against the average of the league at that spot in the order.
