If the vote counts. "bloodbath", "civil war" — we hear these here too from Trump and Republican politicians. https://www.politico.eu/article/nic...a-socialist-hugo-chavez-maria-corina-machado/ Maduro, Chávez’s chosen successor, won elections in 2013 and 2018, though the opposition boycotted the latter. He caused alarm earlier this month by saying that a big electoral victory was necessary to avoid “a bloodbath, or a fratricidal civil war triggered by the fascists.” An exit poll by U.S.-based Edison Research, released as voting ended at 6 p.m. local time, predicted that González would win 65 percent of votes to Maduro’s 31 percent. Nicolás Maduro - Wikipedia Maduro has been described as an autocrat and a dictator by Western authors.[c][19][20] Between 2013 and 2023, Venezuela dropped 42 places in the Press Freedom Index.[21] According to estimations by the United Nations (UN) and Human Rights Watch, under Maduro's administration, more than 20,000 people have been subject to extrajudicial killings and seven million Venezuelans have been forced to flee the country.[22][23][24] The UN Fact-Finding Mission on Venezuela concluded that the country's justice system independence has been deeply eroded; the mission also identified frequent due process violations, including political external interference and the admission of evidence through torture.[25][26][27] Most Venezuelan television channels are controlled by the state, and information unfavorable to the government is not covered completely.[28] In 2018, a Board of Independent Experts designated by the Organization of American States (OAS) found that crimes against humanity have been committed in Venezuela during Maduro's presidency.[29] Since 2020 a reward for up to 15 million dollars was established by the USA for information leading to his arrest and/or conviction.[30] And in 2021 the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) announced the opening of an investigation regarding the situation in the country.[31]

Just going to note that the Chávez movement was driven by populism and built on attacking economic elites including foreign interests. Much of the rhetoric used to justify the Chávez Maduro regime isn’t much different from those Used by those on the Right.
Dictators can be leftists, rightists, or Martianists. Don’t want a dictator? Don’t destroy democratic institutions or put people who admire dictators and have zero respect for democratic norms in power. Don’t do it for short term wins. You are going to regret it.
Xi - Leftist dictator Putin - Leftist dictator Maduro - Leftist dictator Erdogan - Islamist dictator Ali Khamenei - Islamist dictator Kim Jong Un - Leftist dictator Diaz-Canel (Cuba) - Leftist dictator There's your axis of evil.
Not surprising, Trump loves Kim Jong Un and Putin. Make no mistake, whether you call them leftist or not, it doesn't matter. What matters is who can pull Trump's puppet strings, with a little bit of coddling, praise, and corrupt incentives with dollars behind them. When you look at the axis of evil, and the Dictators of the world, they hate Western World countries, and what's scary, is that they can easily pull Trump's puppet strings. After all, they know he's greedy, corrupt, puts himself first over his country, and would love nothing more than absolute power. Iran, Putin’s mafia state: How despotic leaders are buying power across the globe 72% of the world’s population, or 5.7 billion people, live in countries run by authoritarian regimes. Today's autocracies aren’t run by “a bad man at the top.” Instead, “it represented something new: a full-blown autocratic kleptocracy, a mafia state built and managed entirely for the purpose of enriching its leaders.” They’re run by “sophisticated networks relying on kleptocratic financial structures, a complex of security services, and technological experts who provide surveillance, propaganda, and disinformation,” writes Applebaum. One of the most distinctive features of today’s autocracies is their fervor for attaining wealth by any means. Most disturbingly, autocracies have learned to “work together to stay in power, promote their system, and damage democracies.” https://nypost.com/2024/07/27/lifes...ic-leaders-are-buying-power-across-the-globe/ Amid Russia's war in Ukraine, the Israel-Hamas conflict, and China's repeated threats of invading Taiwan - some security and military analysts say that Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea are the "new axis powers" https://news.sky.com/story/the-new-...closer-ties-how-worried-should-we-be-13176969
Chavez and Maduro are HARD LEFT COMMUNISTS. They destroyed the economy of one of the richest countries (with regard to natural resources) in the world. Big government and not understanding basic economic principles destroys people's lives. Cuba, Venezuela, pre-Milei Argentina, East Germany, the whole Soviet bloc, North Korea - all of those are clear examples of leftism making people's lives miserable and leading to death and sadness. Milei is a beacon of light in the world. As is Bukele. People want prosperity and safety. All the high tax, big government advocates are always good at one thing: Giving bad policies nice-sounding names. Like "Diversity, Equity, Inclusion". It was the same in East Germany. And people with dissenting opinions would be persecuted. Look at California under Newsom. A beautiful state, being destroyed by leftist policies. People vote with their feet, if they can, to escape socialism and religious dictatorships. Many people got killed by border police at the intra-German border between communism and freedom. A third of the Venezuelan population has escaped leftist dictatorship. Unfortunately for Venezuela, the brain drain resulting from communism sets the country back many decades, even when the communist nightmare will finally be over.
