You'll wake up, he'll be gone, your wallet will be cleaned out, you'll have to cancel all your credit cards....
The Wolves didn’t run their offense through Gobert either. Kat is also a much stronger on the low block and paint defender than Mark. Mark aint it dude.
Mark’s TS% in his first 3 years weren’t that much better than Green’s. His 2pt% was 0.010 better than Green’s. His TS was better likely largely due to his FT%. It took Mark 6 years to become a “Star” and he will enter his 8th year. It’s funny to me fans keep comparing Green to other players with more experience and in different circumstances treating these players as if they have always been stars or great players while unfairly judging and not giving Green any empathy or understanding holding him to unrealistic demands.
I don’t think we will see “pre ASB” Green. He was a third option afterthought in that strange first half with a high screen and roll/2 man game with FVV and Sengun low-mid post centric offense. It was clear that he was adjusting to the new sets. Udoka and company adjusted their offense a bit in the second half to feature Green more in screens with Sengun, 5 out offense, and also coming off dribble handoffs with Sengun. Green also played less passive and hesitant.
Lauri is one the most shocking, if not the absolute most shocking development stories ever. What happened to him NEVER happens, it’s a once in a lifetime event
Oh? really? Can you tell me why he is so different than other players? Can you tell me about the development of other players in the league? How long does it take for some of these players to develop? please provide me with more information.
I didn't compare Green to Markannen. It was a response to a comment about their current values now. If their percentages similar, that doesn't mean they are of similar value. Sengun has similar stats to Jokic if you look at corresponding age but is not as valuable as him obviously.
Ya he was very mediocre for 5 years and all of a sudden was an allstar in his 6th season. Progression isn’t always linear of course but I don’t know of another player who followed a similar trajectory since i’ve been watching basketball (late 90s and on). Can you think of one?
Happens all the time. Naz Reid became a 40% shooter. Jalen Suggs became a starting caliber player. Isaiah Hartenstein just earned $30m/season. Brook Lopez went from low impact to high impact mid career, almost late career. Andrew Wiggins had a great season, locked down Tatum and propelled his team to a title. Jokic was the best defender in the playoffs the season they won the ring. The myth is that anomalies are rare in the NBA. Truth is the formulas are still so raw that anomalies are plentiful.
Im just referring to your comment saying Green is “unlikely to close the gap” and won’t be an overall better player than Mark. TS% isn’t a comparable assessment of player performance. And again, Mark developed and grew into a more efficient Player and did not become a star until year 6. There’s nothing to say Green can’t develop or grow.
I didn’t say he can’t grow or develop, I said it is unlikely that he gets to those numbers. And I base this on markannen first 3 year numbers being better across the board in terms of shooting, particularly ft% and 3pt%. It is unlikely to close the gap because markannen was originally better and made a jump. The alternative is to come close in shooting and have an all around game, other strong suits. That is more likely for green but still it is hard. So that is why I classify it as unlikely, but of course green will improve and it is possible that he can be better than markannen.
Some truth there for sure. Suggs pretty much had year to year improvement and followed the typical young guy path. Naz is a solid player, harty is a good example but also a solid role player, same for lopez (who peaked early in his career). Wiggins had one flukey massively overrated season and is back to sucking. Lauri went from mediocre to all star level, i still don’t know a single example of that happening after being mediocre for five years
With all the cap space Jazz have, pundits think the key for Ainge may be to get him sign an extension. A big pay day, but maybe front loaded. Lauri still looking for his first real bag, and if on a longer deal, the contract will be worth more. Lauri locks in his money, and Ainge with more bargaining power.
It wasn’t all of a sudden. I think this is a big misconception. He had played 5 years before becoming an all star. That’s 5 years of training, development, and growth. What happened simply was his evolution combined with opportunity. His minutes has gone up last 3 years or so. His paint efficiency gradually improved. He has played more iso, off screen, and cuts. The players that thrive in this league are those that continue to adapt and evolve.
