Astros get: SP Blake Snell SP Robbie Ray $8M (2024) $15M (2025; if Snell picks up his option, otherwise $6M) Giants get: RP Rafael Montero P Julio Robaina P Misael Tamarez
They are talking to teams about several bigger targets. Getting one of those has to be under 50%… I think we get a starter from Detroit and possibly a 1st baseman from Tampa. The Astros are trying to get a bat and a #2 type starter… I think we end up with a rental starter like Flaherty… but they will pay more for someone under control beyond this year.. lets them increase offers for a bat.
Tailon has gotten expensive- Cubs have asked for a lot. Astros hoping to pry away Gausman even if Jays take position he won’t be moved… favorite of Astros. Snell is interesting, Giants claim they want assets for him but they have real payroll problems. Best bet for a 1st baseman at this point is Mountcastle or Diaz from Tampa. Astros also have asked about that big kid, outfielder with a stick that was a high pick but doesn’t play… I’m blanking on his name but Astros covet him.
One thing we learned from Luhnow was that waiting till the last minute can createe unexpected opportunities. I don't know if Brown is sophisticated eenough to take advantage of that yet but I hope he is taking advise from thosee in the org from back then. Damn it my EEE key is sticking. Anyone got an easy fix?
Are you thinking of Keoni Cavaco? Last I could figure they where thinking of converting him to pitching.
Is there a reason why the Astros really like Gausman? OK I'm just looking at his ERA so maybe that's why I don't think he's great for this season. His whip is 1.26. Is that good? Is his ERA high because bad defense, bad breaks, bad game calling? Does Astros think he can bounce back or something they can fix for this season?
I texted my buddy talking about my admiration for Tampa. Joe they do things orderly, reasonable, on time, move the right guys etc instead of turning it into a cluster **** like the cubs or white Sox where you better not be counting on getting someone from there or you might end up boned with nothing. **** that trash ass organization/ put them on the call block list.
In no way claiming it as "favorite", but I really dig this tune {along with the whole record} by the undisputed greatest to ever rock the rock guitar:
Top team prospect at the catcher position plus 2 more prospects is actually a really good haul for the most overrated player in baseball (not my words, his own peers).
TBF, Adams has been solid as a RP over the last 3 years while Jazz looks just above mediocre at best. .246/.309 is not blowing anyone's skirt up.
