Ok. You got me. Since June 1st he is 15th in all of baseball in OBP and 36th in SLG. Seattle's leaders are 82nd and 89th, respectively. But because his RBI's are down (a stat he can't control completely except with a HR - by the way only Cal Raleigh has more HR in that time period for Seattle) he "doesn't move the needle".
Nobody knows for sure if that trade moves the needle or not but isn't that what every team hopes for? Look at the Braves in 2021. They added Pederson, Soler, and Duvall but the guy who caught fire was Rosario. Up until the deadline Rosario's OPS was .685, Slg .389 and OBP was .296 He caught fire in the playoffs and moved the needle enough to help them win the World Series.
If we traded for him everyone would be saying, wow hes been great recently and has amazing post-season success historically. Definitely a needle mover. goes to contender? doesnt move the needle and he has low rbi's.
Paredes is my favorite bat to add and maybe the best on the market. I like Flaherty, Taillon and Fedde the most in that order. A package deal of Taillon & Neris would be something I’d seek.
Fedde and Paredes would be my gets based on what I have read. I will be really disappointed if either of those guys is traded to another team for anywhere near a reasonable price. Yandy Diaz would be my backup for Paredes and Trevor Rogers would be my backup for Fedde. SP rentals do make sense for Houston if the prices are a lot lower given they expect McCullers and Garcia to be healthy by next season.
I'm not a fan of Arozarena's act personally But anyone who thinks he doesn't move the needle for Seattle is nuts
If anything his enthusiasm will be infectious for a team that is extremely lethargic lately. Bunch of ****ing conos
Lance is my favorite Astro of this run but if we make ANY decisions in this deadline based on expecting him to be in the rotation next year we are idiots
Yup - he is what I call a “block”. You can put him in your line up and he is a “+”…. Get enough of those in a row, and you offense is good. I would like to have gotten him but we didn’t need him as badly as Seattle… also trading with Tampa (or Baltimore of Cleveland) makes me uncomfortable, like they know something no one else does.
I'll agree to this. He's not much of a hitter but he's better than anything Seattle currently has. Well spoken.
