Hey, we are finally aligned across the whole political spectrum.

CNN Poll: The nation strongly approves of Biden's decision to end his campaign for re-election:
    • 90% of Democrats
    • 88% of Independents
    • 85% of Republicans
70% also say he should remain in office through the end of his term.

Perhaps it has to do with a two party system in place? I don't see many Rhinos out there these days having any sway withing Republican party. Trump in charge makes that party a Trump-land. Perhaps, same applies to Dems in this hyper partisan environment?

The other argument is that no one ever defeated an incident president in a primary and then all the challenged incumbents went on to lose the election, so maybe big Democrat players were afraid of getting the blame for getting Trump re-elected?

Biden's hubris is to blame and it's to be expected of any person in his position. Not the party overall.

I will give some blame to the party overall and Biden as sitting president is defacto head of the party. I'm sure he and those closely aligned with him were telling people others not to run.

Conventional wisdom has been to not to run against an elected official. Will note no major Republicans ran against Trump either in 2020. I think in this case it was a bad decision and agreed with Dean Phillips that there should've been more of a primary challenge against Biden back when Phillips was running.

Yes, true, but there wasn't .....now we have Harris, and the election is too important to look back, time to move forward defeat facism and racism, and help fix the GOP since they don't have the COURAGE to fix their own party and move it away from these edgers.

There are two ways to look at it.

A primary would have been a whole season of Democrats beating up on each other and the eventual nominee. It would have supplied ammo to the Republican opposition to use against the nominee in the general.

As is, The Republicans ended up wasting their whole anri-Biden convention attacks on age. Meanwhile Harris is unscathed from a contested primary season and fresh.

Perhaps, that's just the silver lining, because I do agree with Phillips and support the idea that more choice is better.
