Also, I get nepotism happens in the real world as well as politics but please don't choose a replacement Just because she's friends with Jill Biden- Tons of way more qualified people than Cheatle

Think she already made her mind to resign and was just given these blank robotic responses in a I don't give a fluck anymore type mindset - The job simply wasn't for her. She was friends with Jill Biden, so connect the dots.

The sad thing is someone is dead and two people were injured badly because of complete ineptitude

There were more dots than her being friends with Jill Biden. Actually a lot more that starting from 1995 and that looked very similar to the dots of people in similar positions. So I don't get your conclusion. But I do agree she seemed checked out during the hearing. It was almost certain she was going to resign

If one failure defines are person, I am yet to see a qualified person. This was not the only assassination attempt ever to happen against a president(or any prominent public figure). This was the most random one of all that I can recall with the most unlikely perpetrator

My conclusion is that she was obviously inept and her hiring was probably a combination of DEI, friends with Jill and NOT based on actual competency...

Does this nepotism happen in every profession? Every political side ? Of course but it really shouldn't in such an ultra important job-
Biden deserves better as well as Kamala for protection on details - with secret service leadership on understanding the planning logistics and everything that involves - wouldn't you agree?

There are crazies out there that want both Kamala and Trump dead - Both Trump and Kamala deserve someone that is willing to leave no stone unturned on preventive measures especially when obvious plain sight dangers are apparent even to the untrained eye

She needs to be indicted. She knows a whole lots of stuff and refused to answer at that hearing.

Do people still think this guy targeted Trump because Democrats called him an existential threat to democracy?

    Everyone deserves best.

But There is no known basis(yet) for calling this just a DEI hire or familiarity with Jill. That is still an assumption. She is not even the first female director of SS. Also, Why would they chose an incompetent one. It is their life on the line??

My point is that her hiring looks like any other bureaucratic hiring. She has a resume. Comfort and familiarity with current administration has always been a criteria.

The failure should be attributed to her personally but not to malign an unconnected idea. I am ok with everything else but turning this into a rally cry against DEI is not sitting well with me

    Nobody knows …
everything about the dude is(was) odd including circumstances from the reports of multiple vehicles from him at the scene, to apparently no trace of intention or declared thoughts on social media, to even the fact he looks like a test tube humanoid version of Elizabeth warren created in a lab.
“Registered Republican” but gave to liberal code blue. Both parents reportedly mental health professionals and yet unaware…he fits the profile of literally nothing making sense whatsoever. Only profile consistency that I’m sure would have been predicted is that he was a loner but that’s about it

I think we agree with each other more than we realize on this but I don’t hide I am not a fan of DEI because I’ve seen it done wrong , maybe you haven’t but I have …
however just as you summized there’s not a substantial reason to make it a rally cry against DEI, but I can’t imagine she was the best candidate; again as you said it’s not about that necessarily, it’s about who the hiring person (the President in this case) is comfortable with and familiar with that takes precedence in a given administration.

No one thought anything bad would happen I’m positive but the reality is that was a bad hire after the fact

Are you expecting the ATF to search everyone's house and find out how many guns they currently possess, or just go on the honor system for this unconstitutional tax?

What happened to everybody's machine guns when they didn't register them and pay the tax in 1934 or again after the amnesty in 1968? They became illegal, and possession associated with strict penalties. Absolutely there are still machine guns out there from back then that never got registered. It's just if you get found in possession of them you're going to jail for a quite a while and your illegal gun(s) will be confiscated and destroyed. You basically have to hide it from being seen.

I think it's probably unworkable to get what DaDakota wants passed, but the system has precedent in the 1934 National Firearms Act which required registration and an annual tax stamp.

I would say both that the National Firearms Act is unconstitutional and ineffective and that I see plenty of machine guns being used in street crime to this day without concern for the taxation of said machine guns. There were also a very limited number of machine guns available (which is why the limiting issue is not the $200 tax stamp, but the $30,000 price tag for a legally transferable machine gun). With 400 million guns in private possession, it is far less practical, and the number of people complying with such a tax (if it is high enough to have the deterrent effect he hopes) will be minimal. It will be incredibly low risk to continue possessing them without paying the tax.

Are you confusing semi-automatic weapons with fully automatic weapons? Fully automatic is considered a machine gun and I am unaware of any crimes in the US that used a machine gun. Semi-automatic weapons are legal and used in the vast majority of gun related crimes.
