That was 33 years ago brah. I don’t think cops can get away with that kind of sick brutality nowadays with the spotlight squarely on them.

I'm glad they're pointing out that the officer created the situation and made it worse. He had the ability to diffuse things for sure. You hardly ever see them tag officers with "duty to retreat", but in the case of a woman holding boiling water that you told her to pick up... It's a little different.

Why didn't one of the cops just go themselves and turn off the stove if they were concerned about it? Like if it was perceived as dangerous then why instruct the person to go move closer to it?? These morons screwed up every which way times 100.

I mean she did threaten them and then apparently throw scalding hot water at them.

I don't think it's reasonable to think they should have expected that.

What was stupid is immediately threatening her back and then moving closer instead of trying to diffuse the situation.

I watched another video in its entirety all 36 minutes of it. It’s basically boiled down to when Sonya Massey said to that murderous cop “ I rebuke you in the name of Jesus”. At first the cop did not hear her clearly and asked her to repeat it, when she did, he lets out a bunch of F bombs and commanded her to drop the pot and then unloaded into her. He seemed to be triggered by what she said. What a messed up and psychotic monster in a uniform.

Unless I missed it, I did not see any hot water hurling towards them. Anyone in here see it?

I believe this time it will stick. She was killed by a cop triggered when he hears the phrase “I rebuke you in the name of Jesus”.

She wasn't throwing water at him, that was his lie to justify his killing her based on ego. She was setting it down, he pointed a gun at her and threatened to kill her, she said she was sorry audibly on the video and ducked instinctively to protect herself and he shot her.

It's on the video, watch it and you never see her try to throw water at him.

This is the officer's record for getting fired and 'resigning' over and over again. He was a bad cop who likely had symptoms before this that caused this record of firing and resignations.

See my post above with the 36 minutes video. I played it back with the lowest speed on YT. At 28:21, it appeared that she raised the pot but the view was obstructed by the cop’s arm. But let’s say that she did try to throw hot water at him, he stil has distance on her and could have easily retreated and did not have to return non deadly force( hot water) with deadly force( his gun). One thing is for sure that he seems to be triggered by the phrase “ I rebuke you in the name of Jesus” and escalated the situation in the blink of an eye.

I just can't jump to racism first thing, I'm sure that many of these incidents are racially motivated .... but I don't buy the idea that this is any majority.
I really think it's more a crime of opportunity.
These bastards have a desire to extinguish a human life and they will do so at the first opportunity race be damned.

Yes, blacks are killed by police at a greater number per capita but in raw numbers, whites are killed more than all other races combined according to the Washington Post database of all police killings going back to 2015.

Fact is that POC come into contact with LEOs more than whites, particularly those in low income areas and that creates the opportunity.
Poor people are viewed as vermin to police, less than human and definitely expendable to police.

    Whites - 4,438
    Blacks - 2,347
    Hispanics - 1,623
    Other - 349

What we can agree on is that no amount of training can fix this behavior. These people are damaged mentally wanting to feel power over life.

Here's the link to the WaPo database in case anyone is interested - there's some shocking shiit in this. It breaks the numbers down in many ways from location, race, age, gender, armed / not & a few others.

The information it does not give is critical to this discussion - the race / color of the officers involved.

Police shootings database 2015-2024: Search by race, age, department - Washington Post

One of the things I find most disturbing is that despite 80% of law enforcement agencies using body cams on officers, only 17% of those 9900 killings going back to 2015 have camera footage. How does that happen?

    Absolutely.

I don't believe that Chauvin had any "intention" to kill George Floyd. He was simply being a dick head trying to make that dude as uncomfortable as humanly possible while in his custody .... it just blew up in his face when the dude croaked and he hadn't given him aid.

This b*stard had every intention of taking a life when he pulled that trigger - that was playing GOD.

There's a difference between a person throwing water, which an officer told you to attend to and told you to drop, and a normal person in thier home clothes having a large cop point guns in your face, tell you they are going to shoot you and you apologizing and instinctively ducking and raising the pot as a shield to keep from getting shot.

He created that situation as she was sitting down looking for ID, reacted that she dared rebuke him religiously, scared her, shot her, declined medical treatment for her (no witness testimony chances), then never told the family it was an officer until they found out on the internet. He was also dumped from station to station with multiple 'resignations' and firing.

It's all there, no need to overthink it. He clearly murdered her and trained experts said he didn't do other things like de-escalating with calm language, create distance, or use a Taser instead of a gun. He was also twice her size and could physically restrain her after she dropped the pot. He needs to be made an example IMO as she lost everything and her kids lost thier mother.

As the shots come and the camera cuts away from her and the shooter you can see steam and water at the edge of the kitchen entering the living area.

Granted we have no visual to confirm how and why the water got there (did she throw it, did she spill it, etc) , but there was absolutely water headed in the direction of the officers.

The standard is "beyond a reasonable doubt", not "yeah probably lol".

This is the worst thing I have ever seen a cop do. That is truly saying something.

I’d give a couple manatees some meth and so cialis and throw this sonofabitch in with them.

Should "I rebuke you in the name of Jesus" be considered a threat? Or did she threaten in another way?
