Looking over the W/L. The Astros are miserable in Game #2s this season. *Does not count 2 game series* After a W in Game #1 the Astros are 6-11 in Game #2 of the series. After an L in Game #1 the Astros are 5-8 in Game #2 of the series. Combined that's an 11-19 record in Game #2s.
If anything, he could be a long reliever. Starter goes 5 innings 80 pitches, then Paxton wipes out 2-4 innings. He might can execute that once every 4 days. Leverage guys get rest. Martinez and Scott get rest. No prospects given up. He might be more effective with 60-pitch/appearance expectation instead of 90+ Then, of course, he can start too. He can allow guys to skip a start. I wouldn't push any pitcher not named Framber 90+ pitches consistently for the remainder of the season. Two wretched starts really hurt his road ERA
Why on earth would we want Kevin Kiermeyer? We already have a slightly better offensive version of him named Jake Meyers.
Astros don't like being comfortable. Game 1 - just getting into a city Game 2 - settled in the city Game 3 - hurry, we're about to leave the city .
Was it last year or the year before that we were set to send Chas down and then someone got hurt and they didn't send him down or recalled him real quick (1 or 2 games in AAA)? Didn't he then go on a tear and never looked back? Maybe the fear needs to be put back into Chas.
Meant to post this yesterday (or Sunday), but update on JV per Sunday's postgame show: He threw 47 pitches in his bullpen session, and topped off at 91-92 mph. He didn't experienced any discomfort. I haven't heard any update since.
Per 790 Espada interview today Tucker - will do outfield drills today - his limp is getting better and better every day - Matt Thomas didn't ask about a time table for return JV - will throw another 40-pitch bullpen session tomorrow (apparently still no discomfort from Saturday's) - Thomas didn't ask about a time table for return It's a bit troubling Thomas didn't ask and Espada didn't offer anything about a time table, but it seems both should be back within 2 weeks -- playing in Sugarland at least.
I'm late to the complain train. Why the hell is Aledyms Diaz getting time at 1B? He's a back-up only, if that. We've already been down the path of washed up Cuban players...
Pending FA so a minimal financial commitment... Unless something's been seen in his arm/health, I don't see why not
