Al Sharpton describes call from Harris on Sunday – and how different this was from the last time they spoke By MJ Lee, CNN 2 minute read Published 12:57 PM EDT, Mon July 22, 2024 When the Rev. Al Sharpton’s phone rang Sunday night, on the line was Vice President Kamala Harris, who just hours prior had received the most consequential phone call of her political career. In Sharpton’s telling, the vice president sounded perhaps almost taken aback by the events of the past day. “I had no idea it was going to happen,” Harris said, according to Sharpton, who spoke with CNN Monday. But Harris was also emphatic and upbeat as she made clear to the civil rights activist about her new campaign for the presidency: I’m going to go all-in. The tenor and contents of that conversation between Sharpton and Harris could not have been in starker contrast from their previous chat at the ESSENCE Festival of Culture earlier in the month. As President Joe Biden was hanging on for his political life, fielding growing calls from Democrats to drop out of the 2024 race, Harris had pleaded with Sharpton to stick with the president. She was, Sharpton said, emphatically loyal, imploring the reverend to continue to have Biden’s back and not join the chorus demanding Biden ditch his campaign. “She kept telling me – stay with Joe,” Sharpton recalled. Harris’ brief conversation with Sharpton late Sunday, lasting all about a handful of minutes, was one of dozens upon dozens of calls that the vice president made in the immediate hours after learning of Biden’s decision to drop out as she is looks to quickly coalesce the party behind her. Biden has officially endorsed Harris and handed off the reins of his reelection campaign to the vice president. Harris will visit Wilmington, Delaware, on Monday afternoon to meet with staff at the office that until Sunday had been the Biden-Harris campaign headquarters. “One day down. 105 to go,” Harris said on X. “Together, we’re going to win this.” https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/22/politics/al-sharpton-describes-harris-call/index.html
'What about white females?' GOP rep calls Kamala Harris 'a DEI hire' The Rs have picked their hill to die on. Good luck and gods speed to them. Suburban likely voters who are heavily leaning for the Ds due to Roe (aka women dying in hospital parking lots since old rich white men know better) are not impressed when the Rs go after Kamala since she is a woman of color.
over 880k small donor donations were made yesterday totaling over 100 million dollars, and 60% of those were 1st time donations
That settles it. We don't need an election. Pack your bags and hand the crown to Harris. Democrats don't believe in elections anyways.
I've seen a lot of this speculation today . . . I suspect there's something to it, but I doubt that Obama/Pelosi/Schumer didn't know about it ahead of time.
I am not Harris`s biggest fan, simply because I don't know much about her yet BUT if the Dems are smart, they will rally behind her and not drag this out any longer and show a united front. I really like Mark Kelly and Gretchen as well as the MD governor but were too far into this to not to fast track her. I dont care who they put out there at this point as I would vote for a ham sandwich over trump, and if there were a gun to my head this past week I would say trump in a landslide BUT now this at least gives the Dems a chance...............I think this will be razor close and might come down to who makes the biggest mistakes down the stretch and who can rally their side to go VOTE. If Harris wins, will the gop finally see that maga and trump are not a winning combo and distance themselves or will they double down? PS - FU Joe Manchin, NO ONE would have wanted you to run
OOMG!!! Has not every heard of the 45th President.. Most look at their phones or kiss their spouse when they wake up.. This man lies first thing in the morning and last thing when he goes to bed... So Mike Lee.. Trump should be disqualified 100 times over. T_Man
