If Mark Kelly is the running mate, I wonder how much Fertitta, a close friend, would invest in the race. From an article about what Fertitta did for Giffords and Kelly after she was shot in 2011. https://www.chron.com/news/houston-...coon-Fertitta-goes-the-extra-mile-2079698.php For six months, he has been a giant in the background for U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and her husband, quietly leveraging his power to help the couple rebound from devastation. His private jets, his home in River Oaks, his ranch, his media connections and even his restaurant empire have played roles in simultaneously supporting Giffords and protecting her from public view as she has pushed through her recovery, sources close to Giffords said. But Houston restaurant tycoon Tilman Fertitta, a close friend of Giffords' husband, League City astronaut Mark Kelly, doesn't think much of his role, even as it highlights a compassionate side of his personality often lost amid headlines about his hardball business tactics.
The short list is taking shape. Shapiro Kelly Whitmer Beshear Cooper The problem with most of these figures is that, should they win, Democrats would be losing a critical seat in a swing or even red state. Cooper is the only one who sidesteps this issue since he is termed out. I think Kelly in particular is not a seat Dems want to give up. I think it will be Shapiro.
I think it should be Shapiro, but I have a bias. I think he is best positioned to help the Dems with longevity. That said, once all the Trump stuff fades away, and the abortion banning dies down and we get back to more centrist conservatives (if we ever do), I will likely vote Republican. Until then, I will either not vote, or consider Democrats.
Longevity has to be a consideration. The Democrats have a hard road. . . because they have to win this election BUT They also have to win the next midterms, election and then midterms after that It will take them at least 8 yrs to undo the Trump Admin's issues More importantly . .. they need to put in legislation to BLOCK all the BS in Project 2025 It is simply not enough to not implement it . . .they need to prevent it from ever being implemented Rocket River
Minnesota media has a habit of magnifying people or things having to do with Minnesota so I'm not surprised to not see Walz's name. I like Tim Walz and think he's done a good job but he's very untelegenic. It's a good list but the problems with those names too is that Whitmer, Beshear, and Shapiro might want to challenge Harris for President themselves in 2028.
ActBlue announced grassroots supporters had raised as of 9pm ET Sunday $46.7 million via the Democratic donation-processing site following her campaign launch, which it noted on X was "the biggest fundraising day of the 2024 cycle."
It’s amazing the ineptitude of Dems in this thread. Now it’s about slut shaming, lmao. Years ago it was all about Trump and a p*rn star. They couldn’t stop vomiting that **** for months. Now that Kamala is the candidate and people are pointing out she was screwing a MARRIED man to get a jump in her career, it’s slut shaming. That’s more along the lines of slut behavior than a p*rn star. But hey, spin whatever you want to fit your agenda. Regardless if it makes sense or not.
It's not as much Walz lack of uhhh... rizz.. As it is the fact Minnesota is not as crucial to 2024 as PA, WI, and MI are.
Or, MAYBE it was more about Trump, a married man, screwing a p*rn star because he wanted to, and then paying her money (illegally or not) not to tell his wife, or anyone as he ran for President. MAYBE it wasn't about the p*rn star at all. What's worse, screwing a married man to get a jump in your career, or being the married man and screwing whoever he feels like it? At least one is getting a long lasting reward out of it ... But, I'm not going to justify either. They're both despicable, and I would never do that to someone I love.
Latest polls have MN in play but I agree those states are more important. As I just posted in another thread that one of the big warning signs for Democrats was polling showing that Biden could lose MN. That would be less a sign of MN going red as of a landslide against Biden.
They are working multiple threads. For a party that thinks they have it in the bag, they seem VERY concerned about who democrats are nominating.
Our “libertarian” friends' current coping mechanism is posting 1000 tweets an hour instead of admitting that they still plan on voting for the old guy who liked to party with Epstein.
Not that this will change anyone's mind, but here's a fact-check article from Reuters regarding Harris and Brown. The links in the article should work. (TLDR summary - It was a relationship that happened in the mid-1990s for a few years and was out in the open. It also took place when Brown was married but had been separated from his wife for 10 years.) https://www.reuters.com/article/wor...a-relationshipover-adecadeafte-idUSKBN26Y2RJ/
