the spin tonight is pretty amusing . . . it's all about how selfless and patriotic Biden is for stepping aside. Pretty sure the real story is the Pelosi/Obama/Schumer collaboration to push Biden off the cliff. Not hearing much about that anymore.
If you think you know how bad Biden was because of the debate, you're kidding yourself. You might not have have ever dealt with someone facing the cognitive decline that goes along with aging. There are many days and times when there is no real difference from 20 years ago. There are times when they are like Biden's debate or Trump's ramblings and nonsensical words. Biden was told in 2020 he was too old. He ran and won. It really wasn't even close in terms of the electoral college. Pollsters and news articles said in 2022 that it was a mistake to keep focusing on the issues of abortion and preserving our democracy against the likes of Trump. Biden thought differently and pushed those issues over and over and he was right while almost everyone else was wrong. I'm sure it's easier for him to dismiss his off moments than anyone else. But because he had that during the election anything he does that is slightly off will only confirm people's suspicion. As a President facing all the demands of the job, Biden nor the nation could chance a crisis during one of the bad days. Biden did the right thing. But to pretend that he was Debate-Biden 24/7 isn't fair and it certainly isn't accurate as he proved before and since the debate.
If you want Kamala to lose, then you have to be vocal about Trump ending his campaign. Kamala only wins because of the Anti Trump sentiment.
That isn't spin. People were against Biden running in 2020 and he knew they were wrong and ran anyway. He won. They were against Biden's insistance in 2022 of hitting the abortion issue and the anti-democrasy issue. "People have moved on. They aren't motivated by that stuff." Polls said it. The media said it, and other politicians told him that. Biden resisted and Biden was right. Other politicians saying Biden shouldn't do something isn't forcing him to not do it. He wasn't pushed off of a cliff. He could have resisted them again had chosen to do so. Wisely, he didn't. It is selfless and it is patriotic to put the country over his own ambition and desires. It is insulting to presume he's at the mercy of Schumer, Pelosi or anyone else. He can make up his own mind. Acting like he had no choice is an insult to his dignity. He proved before and after he had many moments when he was on top of his game.
what's insulting is the Democrats' collective covering up his condition for at least two years if not longer, and AOC is right that the cabal that worked behind Biden's back should have shown more spine and talked honestly out in public. related:
Of course he’s at the mercy of others. He can’t run a campaign without money. Money is the biggest consideration and then on top of that is the pressure from almost everyone in the Democratic establishment to step down. His situation as made untenable. This wasn’t Biden doing some sort of introspection and determining he should leave. Of course he was forced out by the money issue and the pressure of the rest of the Democratic establishment. He didn’t want to leave.
Her main problem is nobody likes her and nobody is going to like her with more exposure to her. Her 2020 run was a disaster for a reason.
Nope. Anyone that has dealt with people who have any number of cognitive issues associated with old age know that it isn't one way all the time. There are great days and moments, okay days and moments, and horrible days and moments. To pretend that he or anyone else has been a walking vegetable 24/7 simply isn't realistic. They covered for Reagan's cognitive issues when he had them and certainly they covered for Biden's when he had them. That is par for the course, but it also isn't like he was clueless all the time or incapable of making his own decisions about staying in or leaving the race.
