2024 Houston Rockets Wide open FGA (No one within 6 feet): 7th Open FGA (4-6 feet): 9th First 58 games of the season for Jalen Green: .308 from three on 6.5 attempts. Team-killing stuff. There is nowhere to go but up.
Ya that's what happens when you have Amen or Sengun sometimes hanging out in the perimeter or a player as gifted at Jalen being able to create NBA.com logged "open shot" by doing a violent step back or snatch back
What really scares me from an investment perspective is Jalen Green's less talked about April. 8 Games. 32 MPG .384 FG% .290 from three on 8.6 3PA 4.4 assists to 3.3 turnovers March was sweet though.
It's as if he's the only one on the roster who started every game with no rest and for the first time in his career was demanded to put equal effort on defense. Conditioning hopefully can solve what you saw in April.
draymond isn't a guard i don't believe? whats the connection between draymond and jalen? Draymond sucked on offense
What we saw in every month of the season except March, you mean. I'm seeing a lot of excuses, and not a lot of accountability. Hopefully, Jalen Green is made of tougher stuff.
Because the Warriors offense require better spacing, they would prefer to play guards who can shoot 3s at a league average level or better. Last year, the Warriors had 9 players who average over 10mpg who shot 35% or better from 3pt line. Jalen Green shot 33%. The only players on the Warriors who are worse shooters than Jalen Green are either centers or Kuminga, who plays PF for them. This is why good offenses are good. Because they play guards who can shoot.
The much less talked about rest of his entire career is troubling, but if we can find a mark to give up significant resources on the back of 8 games in March, it's a win.
I think a “fair” contract would be something around 4/80. Would give him guaranteed money and give the rockets upside if he develops (if we were signing him now). Obviously nothing like this happens in the nba but that would be a fair deal for both sides.
Jalen needs to stop doing those difficult Harden-like shake and bake step back 3s and concentrate on shooting open shots and dribble penetration.
Doesn't he have a higher percentage on those than his catch and shoot? What is his catch and shoot numbers from three this season? 31% So I'd assume the step back and snatch back threes are more efficient for him. He creates more speration of those snatch backs and step backs than harden. Harden is obviously the way more consistent shooter. His step backs are an actual weapon. The snatch backs he did on Dort, JDub and Williams were just nasty.
Have you looked at Jalen's open and wide open ratio of his three point shots on NBA.com? How accurate do you think it is? Dude, they count these snatch backs as "wide open".
I wonder what he would be offered on the open market. His situation, numbers and age is moving more towards Andrew Wiggins and RJ Barret territory. Both Minny and NY ended up offering long contracts based on upside and potential and neither panned out and they had to attach assets to get rid of them. I say we let Jalen to RFA and see what's our there, there might not be much near the max range
Both Barret and Wiggins had worse starts than Green. Efficiency wise, VORP wise, hell Wiggins I think averaged more turnovers than assists his first three years. Imagine how much hatred Jalen would get if he had a assist to turnover ratio below 1. Green is somewhere between Barret and SGA's first three years.
