You’re acting like every player is exactly the same… and they all get put through the same process. As far as Meyers goes, you’re actually contradicting yourself. He wasn’t playing, despite being a better defensive option, till he got better at the plate. Once he started showing more consistency there that (plus his defense) got him more playing time. He wasn’t “gifted” it based solely on last year or where he was in 2021 before the injury.
Wasn’t a problem for him last year? What metric suggests he’s due for a turnaround? Every other slumping Astro this year had ‘something’ that could be built off of… whether it was Bregman’s low K rate when he was hitting only pop ups, or Diaz’ bat speed and barrel % (when he was making contact). I’m trying to find the objectiveness here because I respect how much you really want him to play… I just don’t think this team can afford whatever it is that’s making him a shell of himself to just magically resolve while they’re trying to stay in this race.
You’re right. I think every player is the same. Chas is not allowed to slump. He has to stay highly productive to keep playing. Even when he was crushing it last year he would get sat. He even got sat in the playoffs. He never had the job. That’s one difference between him and meyers. Otherwise, we wouldn’t see an infielder and a career minor leaguer starting over him. Chas has sucked for 150 at bats. I get it.
Lol. Whatever. I think it’s pretty clear that I’m just making a point through comparison. I don’t take baseball personally. Nice use of condescension though.
Thanks. Also clear is that I’m not the only one in this convo. If I wasn’t getting prodded with constant retorts and posts on this, I woulda dropped it long ago.
Really? Lol. I think you’ve been just as active on the subject. You and buck get all frustrated and then get personal or condescending. It’s funny. It’s just baseball to me.
Ok… then you should definitely understand why he’s not playing, lol. The only way you wouldn’t get it is if it was personal or biased.
The only way? Lol. Well it must be personal for you too then because you keep trying to prove your flimsy point. You are working harder than I am, that’s for sure.
To be fair, literally every time the lineup is released you make a comment about Chas not being in it. You’ve even said several times they’ve moved on, which is accurate, so what’s the point of bringing it up again today? Edit: At this point it is what it is and we should all just move on. It sucks he hasn’t performed, and I truly think there’s a chance he is traded and eventually does well somewhere else, but he hasn’t even looked remotely close to becoming productive in the chances he has gotten recently.
And then what is the point in engaging me on it for hours? I don’t post my opinions expecting a 2 hour convo about it.
At least you’re admitting it’s personal… good job by you. I actually don’t care who the #9 hitter is on this team on a day to day basis as much as some in here do.
That part I can’t answer, it’s clear where everyone stands so there’s no need. As I said in my edit above, I think there’s a good chance he is traded and is productive again eventually, whether it be later this season or next year.
