I think Philly would be the perfect spot for Chas and they are looking for a RHH OF. But they aren't giving up any MLB talent.
Snake Diggit gets: Kate Upton Natalie Portman SMTBNL (Supermodel to be named later) World gets: My middle aged exhausted short tempered wife My 2 whiny kids $35 Seems realistic.
This is actually smart. Without Kate, JV would be more apt to throw his concentration back into baseball again. Ring 3 confirmed!
I mean- sure- it won't happen. Neither will like 99% of the trades on this thread. Is that fair value- would you do any of them?
There is way more surplus value and WAR going out in all those trades than coming in. Pick any one of them and tell me what you think is the ballpark of a winning bid.
The idea that the Rays are interested in Chas McCormick puzzled me at first, because next year is his 2nd arb season and that's generally when they look to trade guys for younger cheaper ones. Then I realized that Chas' 1st arb salary was a very cheap $2.85M and he has done nothing to increase that next year. He WILL get a raise, but short of a huge final 60 games, it will be very minimal. That is right up TB's alley and they value defense in the OF. I would love for the Astros to get Yandy Diaz or Isaac Paredes, but both look to be very affordable at least next year so I think they stay in TB until at least next trade deadline. But Randy Arozerana is another matter. After a slow start he has destroyed pitching since June 1st. He has an $8.1M salary also with 2 years of arb raises coming. So they could save $15M or more by having Chas instead of Randy the next 2 years. Arozerana would solidify LF and slide into the middle of the order. Reports say the Rays are also looking to get out from under Zach Eflin's $18M salary for next year as well and he would be a great and desperately needed addition to the Astros rotation. The Rays are always looking for young cheap position players and high ceiling toolsy pitching prospects. Chas McCormick, Shay Whitcomb, Alonzo Tredwell, Miguel Ullola, and Alimber Santa For Randy Arozerana and Zach Eflin.
Do not want Hey Macarena in our clubhouse. Reminds me too much of Garcia of the Rangers and don't need anyone on our team negatively influenced. He'll bring us down instantly and be a thorn until released.
20 lbs head-on shrimp from Rosie's in Seabrook, 10 lbs blue crabs, 2 redfish on the halfshell. for 40 lbs custom butchered beef and/or venison No shipping. You drop off and pick up same day.
You know the old saying- "Sure, he's an ******* but he's OUR *******?" I think he would adjust to the Astros team and clubhouse and fit in quite well. I'm sure he would also appreciate actually having fans cheering him while in the box and in front of the Crawfird Boxes. This team needs some energy and emotion and I like what he would bring.
Oh I was just making fun. I don’t think those trades are that far off although Crochet is going to bring back multiple elite prospects which there were zero in the package you proposed. I actually think the Rooker deal would be a potential overpay.
I wouldn’t do the Rooker one (strikes out a ton and isn’t good in the OF) but I’d without question do the other two. Don’t think there’s any chance the CWS or Jays accept those offers though. It’s going to be a sellers market…Crochet will bring back a ridiculous package.
Just read your reply after posting mine and pretty much said the same thing. Only thing I’d add is really think the Jays are going to get someone (Mariners) to overpay for Vlad.
Vlad just shouldn’t be worth all that much as he’s making a bunch of money now and will make 30M next year. He doesn’t have a ton of surplus value. Maybe he gets kings ransom- I just don’t get it- if they aren’t eating a bunch of money. like- next year he might not even be worth his contract if he gets 30M in arbitration like I’d suspect as a super arb guy.
They will trade Yandy or Paredes if the trade makes sense for them. I’d rather overpay for one of them than get Arozarena.
Peña and Chas for Arrozarena and Paredes- who says no? Both? Altuve Yordan Arozarena Tucker Paredes Bregman Diaz Dubon Meyers. Bryce Matthew’s up next year and Dubon goes back to utility guy. Tampa saves some money. Gets their SS they want.
I understand they will trade them if the deal makes sense. But with their salaries and years of control, on a team looking to compete next year not many offers do make sense. Yandy is under contract for $10M in 2025 and a $12M club option w/ no buyout in 2026. For a trade to make sense the return would need to be insane. Paredes has 3 more years of arbitration and only made $3.4M this year. He will be even cheaper than Yandy next year plus has one additional season of control. He would get a king's ransom in return. I can't see the Rays getting the kind of offer they would need to move them. If they do there is no way the Astros outbid other teams.
I think TB would have to consider it, but the time they would have wanted Pena is 2 years ago. He is entering arbitration next year, which is the time they trade away guys, not bring them in. (I already addressed Chas) I think they would prefer Matthews while a big market team like SF would prefer Pena.
