I don’t think he looked small at all on the court.

Summer League is a terrible forum to showcase a player like Sheppard, and he still excelled. I think the dude is going to start logging real NBA rotation minutes much faster than anyone expected.

    Pulled Sheppard stats from RealGM
    https://basketball.realgm.com/player/Reed-Sheppard/Summary/179670

Were you afraid to show TyTy shot better from 3 than the so-called Sniper Reed Sheppard.
Shame shame. I would also, because most Reed fanatics were trying to sell me on 54%
from 3 in college prior to drafting him.

I told people not to expect that in the NBA. I hate being sold a bad bill of sales.
I'm not saying Reed is going to be a career poor 3-point shooter, I said look for
    37% to 42% initially.

People here have blasted me for looking at 4 games of summer league as a small sample size.
I laugh because these same knuckle heads were sky high on just the first two games of
Summer league.....an even smaller sample size.

Just trying to bring people back to reality.

One of the few situations where a player leaving college ends up on a less talented team in summer league than the one they were on in college.

It's hard to overstate just how terrible every player on this summer league roster was aside from Cam and Reed

I dunno. I know that DeShaun Nix has probably never missed a meal but he looked like Andre the Giant sized up with Reed. If Nix is giving you that much pressure with the ball defense small or not, you’ve got work to do to improve your point guard skills.

The ability to hit the contested mid range though was nice to see. There’s a lot to like and I think his floor is high so I’m excited but im just saying as the 3rd pick in a vacuum, I just don’t know that I see that high of a ceiling. Hope like hell I’m wrong.

I think it's a good eye opener for those who aren't familiar with how meaningless SL stats are. Don't even bother looking at the stats, there's no value in it. It's a nice little intermediate step between college and NBA competition. Similar to the G league your developing players get to test their skills against other young guys looking for a roster spot.

Just watch the game and assess player strengths/weaknesses.

Curious are you saying the 2021 draft was terrible in hindsight compared to other years drafts?

I'm saying that the 2021 draft was terrible, particularly at the top.

Cade has been a bust - absolutely shocked he was extended.

Jalen won't see an extension from the Rockets without a huge improvement - 3 years of suck.

    Mobley Ho Hum

Barnes Ok, ROTY and then what?

    Suggs has improved a lot.

    Giddey - gone.

    Kuminga - terrible.

Franz best player in the top 15

Davion Mitchell - he look ok.

    Ziare who?

You expect every draft class to have players who made it to superstardom within year 3?

Those are the draft classes that have guys like Luka, LeBron, Ja, Embid etc.

I would every player drafted in the top 5 of this draft class will make at least one all-star appearance besides Suggs but he'll be a good player still.

Not many draft classes can say that. This draft class doesn't have generational talent at the top but it has multiple star level talent.

    Also. Cade a bust?

Marvin Bagley is a bust. Weisman is a bust. Cade Cunningham is no where near a bust. Your player evaluation calibration is off by a lot my dude.

Cade hasn't made some star leap yet but dude definitely is at a trajectory of making a possibly a couple all-star appearances in his career.

There were some so-so leaps in Yr3: Suggs, Jalen Johnson, Cam Thomas, Kuminga
Some guys regressed, though: Grimes, Hyland, Ayo Dosunmo…

Brah - no one expects Reed Sheppard to shoot 54% from 3 in the NBA.

As for sample size - you are the one that kept pointing to his three point shooting in Summer League.

You hate Reed Sheppard for some reason- and that’s fine, everyone has a different opinion and the right to voice it.

I’ll just say that it’s a straw man to think people expect Sheppard to be a 50% three point shooter or walk on the NBA court and suddenly be a star.

Sheppard is promising - with a high upside because of his skill set and understanding of the game…. That’s it.

The 2021 draft class has overall been underwhelming - but it hasn’t been terrible.

For all the **** that Jalen gets - Cade was supposed to be an All NBA First Team guy and so far he hasn’t been. He isn’t a bust, but has overall been disappointing. I still expect him to be pretty good though if he can stay healthy.

Jalen Green has been a disappointment, but he isn’t a bust either. There also has been enough flashes of stardom that his outcome is still up in the air.

Evan Mobley isn’t a franchise player but is a very valuable player, elite defender with little development on the offense end.

Suggs is a really good role player - Barnes and Wagner are “hits” that are all star level guys with more in the tank.

Sengun is Sengun - great pick, all star type player.

Underwhelming in the sense it hasn't produced a Luka, Zion, Ja level guy who excels into star player right into their 1st or second years.

But the 2021 draft is deep in the sense it will have a lot of players who make at least one all-star appearance. In that sense it's deep.

In case you all haven't noticed, there has only been one player on this current team that has been consistent and it's not Reed Sheppard. Its Orlando Robinson. He has been the same productive player in every game. Look for him to get a double double tonight.

    Your an idiot.

Read the pre draft threads where people here were creaming their pants over his 3-pt %....
followed by his first game of going 4-6 from 3. All you see are morons posting YouTube
videos and posters here acting ng like we got the bestest point guard the
world has ever seen. Some kinda good or something. My my has the God has fallen
while shooting crap from 3 in games 2, 3, and 4. The 3-point shooting
God was missing wid open 3's (if you watched the games). Front rimming most of them.

Shooting lame floaters the didn't even graze the he rim.

    Shot air-balls.

If you can't see how matador defense was god awful then don't try to talk about
recognizing NBA talent.....you lack the ability to discuss things with me.

I'm sick and tired of us (Rockets) obtaining or drafting dumba$$ points guards

CP3: too old and injury prone prior us getting him. Some here were mad Harder forced him out.
    Westbrook: brick layer
    Wall: has always been overrated
TyTy Washington: wannabe point guard couldn't beat out Wheeler while at Kentucky.
Nix: high school All American. We wasted too much time with him.
Amen: I told people he couldn't shoot worth beans. Don't draft him and move him to SF or SG after a year.

Reed Sheppard: Nook said Nobody is talking about the dudes 3-pt shooting.....
That was the main reason we drafted the mother######. He needs to go
back and read the pre draft threads. All 50 of them.

We needed front court help and should've brought in a replacement for Landale
or Steven Adams. Kel'el Ware or Edey like I said.

Nook claims to be an insider......he needs to advise the Rockets of getting a rim protecting
Center and quit trying to reserve Sengun both Center and PF. Bring in some dang competition
at Center and call Sengun a PF only. Kel'el Ware or Edey would have changed the dynamics
and competitiveness to a level this team needs to exceed.

Rockets need to quit kissing Sengun @$$. And people like Nook need to quit advising the team
on stupid point guards. SOF'ers are holding back this team with their Sengun insecurities.
