3-0...why swing? Now 3-1...why swing unless down the middle?

I dunno what the right play is there, I'd sure take a couple of pitches

We’re talking about the #9 hitter for this lineup again.

This is a better team if Chas is contributing. He just hasn’t been able to get it going despite opportunities, regardless of who he’s facing. Meyers made stuff happen. Dubon had a decent RISP run early. And the career minor leaguer has more memorable AB’s during this hot streak than Chas.

Yes, he was better last year (whether it was just a career year or the ‘gasp’ intermittent rest…). He’s been a shell of last year’s self at the plate, both in the types of pitches he’s not barreling up and his K rate.

Weren’t you the one saying players should have to earn it? And not to simply look at back of the baseball card numbers? Maybe it was somebody else…

Polanco was out by a decent distance. Thought so live too. Framber's 3-2 strike got a decent amount of the zone. Yordan's pitch clock penalty..yeesh

I mean they both suck but at least Cabbage had a double yesterday. Defensively he might be better too…his arm is definitely elite.

Chas is 5 for his last 34 with no XBH.

No I was saying Chas has earned it. The back of baseball card frustration, for most, was only with Abreu. Of course, that is understandable. Also, Abreu was 36 (allegedly) and Chas is 29 so it’s not the same.

Imagine if it’s game 7 of the WS and that happens.

Love the Blum story about AE reading what's happening with the pitcher with runners on, and giving Blum verbal "chitchit"s from SS to 3B

They were right down the middle though… and Kirby walks less people than a pitching machine.

Because he’s facing a guy who has the lowest walk rate in baseball. That 3-0 pitch was the best chance he had.

Oh I agree Chas has struggled. But it’s less than 1/3 of a seasons worth of at bats.

And he got starts to begin the year, got hurt, got starts when he came back. He didn’t lose his job due to injury. He didn’t get relegated to a platoon spot because somebody else started hitting righties better. He lost his job due to his performance.

We don’t know how he’s handling it in the clubhouse. We don’t know if it’s motivating him to work harder/get back to where he was. He doesn’t need to go on some epic hot streak… I’ll settle for good AB’s or some hard hit outs. It’s just been a lot of the same stuff no matter what the context.
