Biden was in clear decline 2 years ago. He was well enough to run for office again. But now that Trump is likely to get elected, he is too old?
Mental decline has two trajectories. A slow, steady decline followed by a sharp decline to death. In 2022 he was on that steady decline. Now he can’t compensate and is on the sharp decline. This is not dementia. It’s just aging. But it’s also not acceptable for an executive. His executive function is actively degrading at an accelerated rate. Trump is showing signs of dementia. He confabulates, shuffles his gait, and cannot stay awake and like Biden is too old. Neither candidate will be able to “get better”. If it’s Biden vs Trump, you’re not voting on candidates you’re voting on platforms. Abortion, taxes, social services, interventionism, courts, etc. Biden will champion liberal causes. Trump conservative ones. But neither will be able to lead compared to a younger candidate in 2024+.
Im not a dementia expert. clearly you are. So I will defer to your expertise. I won't even call for your credentials. So Trump has had dementia his entire life. Got ya. But you didn't answer the original question; Why is it Biden was ok to run in 2020 and 2024 but now Trump is too old for you? Did you vote for Biden in both 2020 and 2024 primary? (rhetorical question, you dont have to answer that) You left out way too much context to broadly brush away why you think its ok to elect a man in mental decline. Its very very clear Biden is not in control of his presidency. While its great and highly recommended to rely on consolers, the American people did not elect these consolers. They elected JB to run this country and he is not running this country. JB is not even a proxy at this point.
it's not even clear that Biden has been in control of his presidency for the last year or maybe two . . . I think that's why Democratic voters are so pissed at the party right now, they share the anger in having been misled for so long
Trump in 2016 is not Trump in 2020 who is not Trump in 2024. Trump in 2016 was a narcissist, not a demented. It was during 2020 that he started showing symptoms, and the non-sense he has been saying during his rallies is evidence of this decline (). Biden in 2012 in not Biden in 2020 who is not Biden in 2024. Biden in 2020 was an old man who flubbed. Biden in 2024 has cognitive decline. Biden in 2028 will be demented.
What are democrats doing? It doesn't matter who they put out there, opposition is going to tear them up. That is the nature of politics. If you can't defend Biden administration, you don't deserve to win elections!! You had your chance to primary him. The decline doesn't happen overnight. he did not become old in a day. What we you doing then and what are you doing now ??? This is not the time to change unless something were to happen to Biden.
I think we will get beat regardless, Average Joe Six Pack doesn't really care about the stock market, unless its tanking, they don't really care about unemployment rates unless it's in the tank or affects them, they care about how much milk is at HEB and how much rent is and let's be honest, after Covid its been up due to inflation although that is coming down slowly, but its coming down and I think interest rates will come down this fall. The gop is great at marketing and the dems suck and they are hammering things that scare Americans, they leave out the fact that there was a bill to pass and change immigration so everyone can stop using this as a political point but alas trump blocked it so he could use it as a talking point. Both candidates are too old, say what you will about Biden`s age but he`s done a heck of a job with a gop controlled house. Hell, all my gop friends are already taking a victory lap and talking trash to me all the way and thats fine LOL Joe should drop out for the good of the party, its the right thing to do and who knows we have 4 months to go and who knows what whacky thing trump will say or do. I would caution one thing about trump, he didn't come up with any real policy's the first time, when s the party going to come out with what they actually stand for. He never came up with a Health care plan to replace Obama care as he said he would, his spending was just as bad or worse than any other president.....................I am going to prepare to have trump in charge, BUT there is still time so we shall see. As an Independant, I am mad at the Dems for not bringing someone along who can lead, and I am mad at the gop for giving us a morally bankrupt human being who is so vile I would not ever vote for. As a human being, I laugh when anyone talks about UNITY and then tears down the other side 2 minutes later, so its just a word like WOKE, it has no meaning at this point
I'm skeptical any President or even any party can win a second term in the White House while there is a cost of living crisis during their first term. Everyday economic considerations outweigh every other consideration by a mile and it doesn't matter if your policies are directly responsible for the cost of living crisis. You're in charge while it happens, you pay the price.
As much as I wanted Biden to be replaced, I do find it a bit troubling how he would be replaced. It would be very undemocratic if are given anyone else but Kamala. Not excited about that, but it would at least give the people the team they voted for as opposed to putting anyone else there that could have a better chance.
He is an old man the DEMOCRATS have a backbone and kick out crooks and criminals, and 25th amendment candidates. The GOP embraces them. BIG DIFFERENCE. DD
I would usually agree with this, however, the Roe v Wade stuff is a bad look for the Republicans. They are trying to save face by whatever new language they released, however, several elections have been lost because of this issue and they did not have a good day during midterms. Women and company are really affected by this. Also, how does the conservative Christian feel about the lack of support for a "National Abortion Ban". Republicans are running on the platform of giving the choice back to the states, but that's not very Christian of them. I think this 2024 election is odd because you have a candidate that has had a very strong economy under his watch, but at the same time, the average American is feeling the pinch due to inflation and are deservedly concerned since things are not getting any cheaper, even if their wages have increased. Credit card debt is on the rise, people's savings are starting to dwindle and interests rates are so elevated that you either can't afford to buy a house, or for those that have bought, we are paying a lot more money for it due to interest. On the flip side, Trump lost a lot of support due to his previous term. Yeah, you have his fans that will hang on to his every word, but are centrists republicans, centrists democrats or independents impressed? I'm thinking voter turnout will be the deciding factor this year. Some individuals may choose to not vote at all because they don't want to vote for Trump, but are unhappy at the status quo with Joe Biden. They could throw their support to Kennedy as a protest vote, or because that's what best fits them, or they could stay at home. I think it's going to be a really close race. No one is blowing anyone out of park, despite the tide appearing to be in Donald's favor at the time.
And if the Dems nominate a POPULAR guy like Newsome, the AGE thing FLIPS completely on Trump........he is too old, he is senile etc. DD
Great post, and so very true. Which is why we need better from everyone in Washington. If these two geezers are all they can put forth, we're living in the Temu of the world.
