Ok. Let's make this bet then. I think earlier when Quickley got his contract you said Jalen is going to get more. So let's use that as as baseline. 5yr/$175mil contract or the 4yr at equivalent salary which is $140mil. If Jalen Green reaches either of these milestones on his next contract, I will promise to never say anything bad about him ever again. If he can't, then you can't say anything good about him ever again. Do we have a deal? I'll add the caveat that if he sustain an injury that either he misses too many games or clearly affects his offseason earning potential, this bet is off. However, if he's traded (say to Phoenix for KD at the deadline) and then the Suns give him this big deal, then the bet still applies even if he's no longer on the team.
So Jalen is literally Tron -- is he part of CrowdStrike? Anyway, I hope he excels and leaves a lasting legacy.
I think you beautifully expressed my sentiment that it's beyond you being a Rocket fan now and more to satisfy your ego of being right with your initial assessment of Green and being very very very vociferous and relentless.
Nope. Why don't I include you in this group? Because I see sincerity and your criticism of Green AND you give praise when it's due. So I can tell your criticism comes from a perspective as a Rocket fan rather than a perspective of being right on the Internet. There are posters here that will not enjoy a hypothetical golden age of Rockets basketball if Green is a major part of it because they've invested too much time trashing him.
Do you have so little faith in Jalen Green that you can't see him getting a bigger contract than Imanuel Quickley?
You are doing everything I assumed you would. Thanks for proving my central premise from my past 10 or so replies on here.
You are Jalen's biggest defender. I sincerely hope he rewards all of your work defending him by coming out really strong and plays consistently all season thus forcing the team to resign him.
Ah you got me. I just hate him. But do you like him though? If you do, surely this is a great opportunity to get one of his haters to stop hating. Or do you actually not think he's that good and you are on here just to annoy people?
I want so badly for Jalen to succeed and get his bag. But my gut tells me it’s going be 3. That he will get packaged and another team’s fans will be arguing like this a year from now. If that happened we should probably tie this thread up with a bow and deliver it with a fruit basket to the fan page of the franchise he lands with.
I remember @meh being around here since Yao Ming was our best player. You are the definition of projection with that post, what would YOU be if the team succeeds without Green, because I have only ever seen you post about him.
Id be sad because I want Green to succeed. He's my favorite player to watch and I always wanted a player of Green's archetype to excel in the Rockets because it's very fun to watch that. I have no issues discussing what I want for the team. And I'm rooting for him and I'll defend him from people who can't even acknowledge a single thing positive a out the kid. I wish people like you or meh were upfront you'd be disappointed and upset if the Rockets have a golden age and someone like Sengun isn't part of it. Maybe pay attention to the actual type of comments I reply with some "spunk". It ain't the type of comment that says "Green needs to be more consistent". Someone called me "Green's biggest fan" and let me tell you there are posters here who don't think Green's floor is "glorified 6th man journey man" when I do still think that is within the range of outcomes for him. I usually reply to dudes who think what he did in March is a fluke and that his ceiling is a 6th man. There are guys like @Nook I disagree with in their evaluation but I know it comes from a sincere place because I can see he at least acknowledges that Green still has "superstar" as an outcome because he has shown those highs even though he believes it's a stronger likelihood that this is Green's last season as a Rocket. It's the complete dismissal of his potential and his highs he's shown that really make me think people are more dedicated to their predictions more so their fandom as a Rocket fan.
My point was, don't take this too seriously. It's just a bunch of basketball fans talking. Have fun laughing at people, laughing at yourself, or just laughing, and don't get mad when people are laughing at you. It's stressful to be a Jalen Only Fan. Being a Boban Only Fan instead would make you live longer. There are people who say "hateful" things about Boban, like "he's wasting a roster spot" or something like that. I don't have to defend Boban. All I need to say is "reported " and that's the end of the story. Or I'd just say, "Boban is a beautiful human being. If you have issue with him, you have issue."
I laugh at people and they get offended also. Tell them like @MadMax He show a lot more petty offense.
You really do seem to take things said on here too personally sometimes. This is a fan forum with all different types of people expressing their feelings about the team so naturally we will not all agree. The fate of Jalen will be decided this coming season. Let Jalen's performance do the talking. It is perfectly fine to defend him here just quit taking it as a personal insult when someone criticizes him. I said in the another post I hope Jalen rewards you and I meant it.
I mean why take things seriously? When you make comments like this you are taking it seriously because you want to be perceived as fair.and only people who take things seriously care about these perceptions. Don't take things seriously. You can show that by not being coy and just admit you would feel bad dedicating a lot of time trashing Green and he ends up being a staple of the team for a long time if that happens.
I "trash" Green when he plays bad or at least I started doing that last season during his extended bad play to start the season. He earned my ire. You disappeared around the GARM during that time. I will "trash" any player with extended bad play including Sengun(my current favorite player). If Green succeeds, I will not feel bad about my past comments because they are accurate due to his past extremely poor play. Plus it will be great for the team (which is my focus). Do not confuse me thinking there is a good chance he will fail as Jalen hate because nothing would make me happier (as far as basketball goes) for every single one of our new young guys to be the best they can be. Jalen being the best he can be would be one of the best players in the league.
You are taking this too seriously. Look, if you didn't take it seriously you'd be the opposite of coy with this fake "I want him to succeed because I'm a Rocket fan" like you express. I don't buy it. It's fake. I can't be 100% certain but for you and many I'm pretty confident if Green succeeds next season and gets an extension and becomes a core part of future success for the franchise they will begrudgingly accept it and not take as much joy in it as much compared to if the Rockets success in the next half decade is without Jalen. I think that's a fair assessment. I think people like @meh may want the Rockets to succeed but would rather the Rockets succeed without Jalen part of that success. But if he's part of it they might still be Rocket fans celebrating with their peers in real life about Rocket wins in the playoffs but they will at the same time be frustrated they can't be as excited because they knew they trashed a core part of why the Rockets are good for multiple years.
