Well he hasn't actually established whether he'll be more than a role player or not considering that he hasn't actually played a minute of ball in the actual NBA.

Yeah, the PG position has gone from the weakest (KPJ/Nix) a year ago to one of the strongest on the team. Last season, Holiday as FVV's backup was okay but not great. Now we can clearly see that Sheppard has what it take to be the future starting PG, and Amen still has the potential too.

I hate to bring in Jalen's situation in this thread. A lot of people think Cam is going to push Jalen for the starting SG job. But I think the emergence of Reed and Amen is the real threat that may make Jalen expendable. I for one is not as worried about the backcourt as a few months ago.

I love FVV's game and think he's an underrated player and was probably the most important part of our turn-around last season (alongside Ime's coaching). However, I do think he's too good to come off the bench, and I wonder how fast our other backcourt guys might surpass him if things go well. Also, even if he's not really a max-level player, he's pretty close, so it's hard to see him taking less than $30-35M AAV or so--he could pretty easily get that on the open market honestly.

Dude you're not the only one who's seen basketball. Saying he'll be a decent PG is different than saying it will be his team. I will confidently say here that it will be Sengun or Amen's team before Reed Sheppard.

That was one of the main impressions I came away with when watching Kentucky...They would have done better as a team if they had put the ball in Reed's hands more.

You are probably right. I think he could start in
25-26 and then go to bench but who knows.

I agree. Alpi and Sheppard will makeup 2/3 of our big three IMHO. Whatever IT is they both have IT. We are lucky we also have three candidates to be the other third in Amen, Cam, & Jalen. I think it will be Amen. It all comes down to BBall-IQ. Alpi and Reed are absolutely dripping with it. Of the other three I think Amen has the most. The passing between, Alpi, Reed, and Amen will be amazing. This should be really fun to watch over the next few years.

There are alot of obviously blind people here that don’t know ball.

Reed Sheppard is the real deal

He’s a cross between Mark Price and James Harden.

He’s going to be a top 10 player in the league. Book it.

The way he navigates the floor with the ball in his hands, especially around screens. His playmaking ability. His willingness to take tough shots. His quick first step and how he can change paces on a dime

    I’m calm. I didn’t say Reed will be a superstar - I didn’t say anything was certain.

I said that this may end up being Reed’s team - and it may. He has a lot of the attributes that lead guards have. It is rare for a rookie to lead and have a command of the offense like Sheppard has thus far - which is really just a continuation of what he did at Kentucky as a freshman.

I said that there is a “chance” this could be his team - I didn’t say it was certain or even likely.

That doesn’t mean he will lead the team in scoring or rebounding or even all star appearances.

Not sure what second year Jabari Smith in the Summer League has to do with Reed Sheppard… and in the case of Reed, it isn’t even about his numbers in the SL. It is about his leadership, confidence, ability to use motion to get around defenders and into the lane.

The only “concern” I saw was that he sometimes struggled defending at the point of attack. It is something I think he can get better at - and luckily Amen and Jalen can defender the ball handler.

The hands, the anticipation - his ability to process the game, shooting, passing … confidence… he has all of that in spades.

He now has to go do it and show that his height and physical attributes are good enough to be a starting point guard type player.

So he had a couple of good summer league games.

Guess he's showing the world he's on Donte Greene's level. I hear Tru Warier is available.

Midwest America about to cream their panties. Utah, Boston, and OKC so jealous right now, and even Dallas as Luka is just European, Cocaine Curry is a full blooded country boy American.
