I absolutely think that this is the case - @Dobbizzle is spot on on this one.

“…who isn’t highly regarded at all” by…you? The ‘experts’ who remain on the outside of FOs?

Most stuff i saw didn't have him anywhere near number 1. I'm saying that if the hawks ACTUALLY believed the mahomes nonsense, they would've taken him 1st. It would make him a wemby level prospect.

Mathloom posts a lot of crap.

He just uses 1,000x more words for the same crap someone else posts in a one-liner unfounded opinion.

That leads some people to mistakenly believe there is any substance behind it.

Sarr was always considered a frontrunner to go very high in this draft class. I don't think it had anything to do with him being French, I think it was just about the tools. He didn't even play professionally in Europe, he went from OTE to the NBL. He was always a "gamble on the upside" pick though so it wouldn't be surprising to see him not live up to the usual expectations for his draft slot--just a losing the coin flip kind of scenario if that happens.

As for Risacher, sure--it's possible that there was just more scouting attention and buzz around LNB Pro A because of Wemby. Coulibaly also helped--he was considered a reach where Washington picked him, was supposed to go outside the lottery originally, but he still had a fine rookie season for such a young, raw player. Perhaps those two made scouts slightly overrate the competition in that league.

Regardless, Risacher's second SL game was a lot better than his first, and I think he'll be fine. It's just a couple summer league appearances. Nice that Reed has been outplaying both of them so far though--certainly better than him not playing well.

Yeah, just a reminder that nobody expected Sarr to hit the ground with a fully-formed jump shot. Everyone knew going into the draft his shot was more projection than reality right now.

My bigger concern with him is that I didn't see a great motor. For him to at least be a strong defensive contributor, he needs to play hard. But again, I'm not going to write off any player after a couple of games

That’s the part. I was confused about the dude acting like him shooting 25% was a good thing. Lol

My opinion, just my oh!pinion, having ‘experts’ tell me who was a steal, or a reach, what this
d-u-m GM did or didn’t do is just not value adding.

SL eye-tests are more often than not summer loves and don’t have the legs to last.

In a way, this is generational. Tony Snell dethroned.

I said it as well and was widely criticized. As was pointed out to me, there have been a number of really good players from France, but it just seemed to me that the fawning over the top 2 picks this year was from the Wemby effect. By the way, I think Sengun will have the better NBA career out of him and Wemby. Again, I will be roasted.
