Judge dismisses classified documents case against Trump

Schumer is a Harvard grad who got his JD from Harvard Law with honors. The dude knows Law.

 

Why would anyone worry about that? Because right now 40% of the country is fine with what the Court is doing, and what Trump is doing - because they support him..... but the principle is the same, if Trump can do it, then so can someone that they really dislike politically.

It is the same position I held with the Patriot Act and the expansion of Presidential power under GW Bush.... it is all fun and games when your side does it, but not the other.

 

On paper, Judge Cannon (hilarious irony in that name, legally) and other Trumper judges/justices aren't saying that, per se. They're just arguing a technicality on the method of investigation. To paraphrase, as far as I can tell:
Well, I'm not saying Trump did everything right, but I'm just saying y'all didn't necessarily dot your i's and cross your t's right here in the process, at least according to one interpretation from one justice on this one issue, and so let's just slow your roll or actually, start over, or, well, maybe just forget about it, given all the hubbub already.

 

Yeah - he knows law.... he also knows how to act outraged and not do anything about it.

 

I have met Chuck at least ten times at local fundraisers and our annual St. Patric's day parade here in Albany.
All I can say is don't get in-between him and a camera, you will get injured.

Dude insisted to have him, and his cronies jump in front of my ancient Order of Hibernians in our parade to look Irish.
Although he possesses none of the attributes of any Hibernian members.
Fought about it with the parade organizer until she yielded to his demands.
Dude is straight all about himself, and then laughs it off.

 

I don't care about the principle being the same, what you're sayng is "we should worry about the hypothetical" rater than teh actual clear & present danger of Trump - that is the same trash reasoning John Roberts tried to float to himself when he invented the doctrine of Presidential Immunity to let Trump commit crimes with abandon, past present & future.

I'm worried about the grievous crimes being done right now rather than some hoary, "imagine if the shoe was on the other foot!" - the shoe's not on the other foot. The shoe is covered in **** right now.

That is fine - and I respect your opinion but Roberts was going to allow for Executive Immunity no matter what, once he had the numbers and the right President in charge. He can trying to cover it with leaves and grass, but there is still **** under it at the end of the day.

What is your solution?

Schumer has made sport of Trump every day for the past eight or nine years. I'd say that makes him All American. counter-reported.

 

I don't have the solution, but I do know that downplaying the present state of emergency in favor of the hypothetical "leftist dictator" is not really going to help and probably plays into the hands of the coup people/fascists.

If you want actual solutions? Probably things like general strikes are now the next thing....continuing to play a rigged game where the fascists get to Calvinball the rules seems to be a losing effort - see, e.g, everything that has happened since 2016.

 

Win elections. Reform the court (as a start). Cannon's decision *should* help wake up a few more folks.

 

I am not downplaying anything - I have said for 8 years that Donald Trump had the potential to be dangerous to our form of government and the checks and balances that we have to limit efforts to compromise our government.

Strikes are not going to work - you don't have enough people that are concerned enough.

 

Yes - win elections, which can help you reform the courts.... and pass laws.

 

The Democrats won the last election easily, and many elections before that, but the Courts and other institutions (the media, states, big business, etc) have colluded to prevent this from being accomplished, much like amending the Constitution is theoretically possible but functionally impossible.

What now?

 

defeat your political opposition at the ballot box instead of spamming them with indictments and trying to imprison them like Putin

 

That be laughed out of court on appeal.

 

Even you don't believe Trump didn't mishandle classified information. Criminals should be prosecuted, not given a free ride by a bought judge.
