honestly it wouldn't be surprising if the Democrats just decide to take the L and ride it out with Biden and start looking ahead to the 2028 reset
When have the Democrats ever gone with the prudent choice. Doubling down on stupidity is their theme.
AOC is spitting mad https://thehill.com/elections/47721...anonymous-quote-you-should-absolutely-retire/ 24 minutes ago Ocasio-Cortez rips House Democrat over anonymous quote: 'You should absolutely retire' by Sarah Fortinsky 07/14/24 8:55 PM ET Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) on Sunday sharply criticized an anonymous “senior Democrat” who was quoted saying the party was “resigned” to another four years under former President Trump. Ocasio-Cortez, in a post on the social platform X, said Democratic members who feel that way should “absolutely retire” from their posts in Congress. “If you’re a ‘senior Democrat’ that feels this way, you should absolutely retire and make space for true leadership that refuses to resign themselves to fascism,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote on X. “This kind of leadership is functionally useless to the American people,” she added. “Retire.” Ocasio-Cortez was responding to reporting from Axios about a shift among Democrats, who say they are focusing more now on their staffs personal safety, rather than on President Biden’s standing as the party’s presidential nominee. “We've all resigned ourselves to a second Trump presidency,” a senior House Democrat said in the Axios story. Democrats and Republicans have both largely signaled an effort to strike a unified tone in the wake of the assassination attempt on Trump’s life. The Biden campaign has paused political activity, even taking down political advertising for the time being.
My maternal grandmother had Parkinson's, I don't see the same symptoms in Biden. Dementia or Alzheimer's, maybe, but not Parkinson's. He doesn't have the tremors that are characteristic. Look at Michael J. Fox, where the tremors were the first thing to show up.
Biden’s disease is that he’s 81. A lot of people just obviously don’t know that many old people. For 81 I actually believe that Biden is pretty high functioning most of the time. However the issue is when he is having those days that his age shows it is a stark reminder that public speaking in this capacity is tough. I’m 41 and am up in front of audiences speaking regularly and give presentations to corporate decisions makers across the board. Even at my age sometimes I fumble my words and have off performances. It’s not an easy skill to do. At 81, hell no. I couldn’t do what Biden does. The presidency is a job that can be done by an 81 year old for sure. However campaigning for the presidency in a high stakes election in 2024… no I don’t think even Biden is cut out for doing the intense level of public communication and persuasion that is necessary to move folks who are not going to get their butts off the couch to even cook their own meal much less go vote on a workday in November in the middle of football season. It’s going to be a grueling few months and I believe Biden should step aside and let someone else be the torch bearer for the party platform for the next few months with a fresh voice and take a chance at finding a way to inspire unlikely voters to get off their butts.
Biden has always had gaffes and said stupid things. Those are now significantly magnified And anytime he says something stupid it will be under a lot of scrutiny.
Yes because it reinforces what we saw at the debate which is different from the normal Biden Gaffe machine. That was simply old age catching up to him, and the way that things are structured for fast moving quick response, etc. just sent him spiraling. It exposed his age. Trump is only slightly younger yes, and he says plenty worse, but the way he says them sounds quicker, and even though its a word salad, his supporters can still hear the words "strong" "Bad" "Best Ever" Trump" etc. and think that he's a genius. Trump only sounds deranged if you are actually looking for his words to make sense, but he has yet to sound or speak old on the debate stage. On the rally stage he has had some serious short circuit moments though which do point to also having some cognitive issues that might only come out when he hasn't taken his meds, gotten sleep, etc. Biden's issue isn't with voters like me though. Me and millions of others will vote for Jimmy Carter on hospice today over Donald Trump. However I know that there are still Millions that will use it as an excuse to stay home. November will be in the middle of football season, and the weather will be a bit cooler, etc. etc.

https://thehill.com/homenews/admini...uggests-trump-bullseye-comment-was-a-mistake/ Biden suggests Trump 'bullseye' comment was a 'mistake' by Alex Gangitano 07/15/24 6:02 PM ET President Biden on Monday suggested that it may have been a mistake to use the word “bullseye” while talking about former President Trump on a campaign call last week, addressing renewed attention around those remarks in the aftermath of the shooting at the former president's rally. NBC’s Lester Holt, in an interview with Biden, noted that a conversation has begun about rhetoric in the 2024 race in the wake of the assassination attempt on Trump. “The truth of the matter was—what I guess I was talking about at the time was— there’s very little focus on Trump’s agenda,” Biden said, according to an early clip released by NBC. Holt responded that the issue is with the word “bullseye.” “Was it a mistake to use the word? I didn’t mean, I didn’t say crosshairs, I meant bullseyes,” he said, making a circle with his hands in front of him. “I meant focus on him, focus on what he’s doing, focus on his policies, focus on the number of lies he told in the debate.” Biden used the word in a campaign call with donors last Monday as pressures from Democrats were mounting for the president to step aside from the race. “It’s time to put Trump in the bullseye,” Biden said on the call. In the interview with Holt, Biden tried to contrast himself with Trump's previous remarks and actions. “I’m not the guy who said I want to be a dictator on day one, I’m not the guy who refused to accept the outcome of the election,” the president added, taking jabs at Trump. Biden pushed back when Holt asked if he’s taken a step back and done soul searching on things he has said that could incite people who are not balanced. “How do you talk about the threat to democracy, which is real, when a president says things like he says? Do you just not say anything because it might incite somebody? I have not engaged in that rhetoric,” Biden said. Biden made a primetime plea the night before, calling on Americans to “cool it down” after the shooting. Biden’s campaign suspended communications Saturday after the shooting and plans to start them back up Monday night after the Holt interview airs in full at 9 p.m.
