watching the Indiana Fever game today…this is my 1st time watching Caitlin Clark in the WNBA with all the attention she’d been getting, I just assumed she was out here killing the league…then I looked up her season averages: 17, 6, and 8 on 40/34/89 splits which is meh
For me, watching WNBA games is "meh" at best. I don't give a flip about numbers and records when I'm watching games.
https://www.si.com/wnba/new-wnba-media-rights-deal-worth-over-2-billion-per-report Clark effect is real. And think about the potential stars coming in after that (Paige Bueckers, Juju Watkins, etc). Hopefully, there will be rivalry with some other polarizing player that is sustainable (Reese?). Based on the current revenue split (10/90), players could get an extra $100k+ per year on new contracts when the deal kicks in. That's significant considering the length of the season and current salaries.
I honestly wanted to get into the WNBA this year. The problem is that the Comets are no more. I tried to pick a team to root for, but I can't root for say, the Spark, when I associate them with the Lakers and Lakers fans. It's tough!
naw its impressive stop hating. There are like 4 girls around her when she is rebounding her own rebounds.
i understand. Angel is a polarizing player. but I think she is great. and great for the game. This girl has no touch around the rim and wills herself and her teams to wins. there is no way she can set a rebounding record without an elite nose for the ball. too bad she got injured thankful for Angel and CC and this year's rookie class.
Maybe it's just NBA withdrawal but I've been watching a lot of WNBA this year and it's pretty good. Every team has a few interesting players since there are so few teams but it's still pretty top heavy. The Aces are a fun watch because Aja Wilson is just straight up female Anthony Davis and the undisputed GOAT even at just 26 years old.
Angel Reese seriously shot 39% this season...as a frontcourt player. I guess it's easier to stack a lot of offensive boards when you are constantly missing shots at the rim.
